Chelsey Hanson

Chelsey’s 2025 was packed full of so many obstacles to overcome. She started teaching at a new school, her horse was injured for a good chunk of the season, had a few of her old horses pass away, and her son was diagnosed with cancer. Praise the Lord that C**t kicked cancer’s butt thanks to Chelsey’s determination to find answers and catching it early to start treatment quickly.

Strength comes from doing the hard things. It comes from showing up despite the pain or fear of going through the struggle, the endurance, and then building on that, to keep going forward and upward. Strength doesn’t come from what you CAN do. It comes from OVERCOMING the things you once thought you couldn’t.

So here’s to Chelsey overcoming all of those struggles from 2025 and chasing her goals in 2026.

To whomever left this in my vehicle this weekend while I was working, thank you! As a small business owner and one woman show, it is easy to get stuck in the constant grind and hustle. So to find this in my passenger seat when I got home just made me feel very grateful for my amazing clients. I’m truly blessed to serve the North Dakota community ā¤ļø

This incredible woman has been through it all this year and she’s still grinding away. She has the heart and drive of a true winner. I’ll just let her speak for herself:

ā€œThis past year has been a tough one. From dealing with seasoning young horses, rehabbing a horse, cherishing time with my older horses to retiring my once in a lifetime horse, it has been a struggle. I know that to be at the top of my game though, I have to keep working and just slowly chipping away at my goals again. It might not be winning slot races again anytime soon, but I will do my best to try and be there again. Something I’ve enjoyed this year, is I’ve spent time riding with a few local trainers (Siggy Scheid and Kasey Hiatt) as well as going to a couple of clinics. I hadn’t gone to a clinic in years and I’m kicking myself that I haven’t been doing this sooner.ā€

ā€œMy plans for 2026 is to just keep building in the horses I have and just go with what may come. If they’re ready for more, keep pushing. If they need to back down this year, that’s fine too but we will not give up!ā€

ā€œDr. Hannah has been such an integral part of my barrel racing career the past few years. I truly, truly mean that I wouldn't have had the success that I’ve had without her. I can see it in my horses each and every time. She cares about not just mine but everyone’s horses and wants to see them be the best that they can be. Regardless if its a top 1D horse or a trail horse. We are so very blessed to have Dr. Hannah in our horse community. I can’t thank her enough for everything that she’s done for me. It’s been an honor and privilege to be a part of her Moving Forward team and I’d love the opportunity to continue being on her team.ā€

Dear Bobbie Jo, the honor is all mine to have you back for 2026 ā¤ļø

Sometimes you come across a young cowgirl that you know is going to go on and do great things. Not in one particular specialty amongst horses but just has a genuine connection with the animal. Rowan is nothing short of amazing in the relatively short time she’s owned horses and I’m beyond lucky to have her back on the team for 2026! Her plans for next year are to get her young prospect, Louie, started under saddle as well as compete and expand her skills on her main mare, Norma Jean. Fun fact about Rowan: nobody has been able to be around her for 5 minutes without smiling or laughing. šŸ˜„ Her energy and happiness are contagious!!

How about adding some big smiles to the team? Let’s welcome back the Lipetsky’s! Bring out the tissues because this isn’t one of my light hearted and funny posts. This one is sappy and full of happy tears.

What makes one of her goals so special is she filled out this application before bringing home her new partner. God is truly great at making dreams come true 🄲

Here are her goals for 2026:
ā€œMy big goal for 2026 is to take Rig to a mounted shooting clinic. I am hoping that my step up horse will find me and my barn so I can continue to grow in my abilities. I also have a mare, Tonka who has 2026 breeding to Screwdriver - we are so excited for that adventure! I have thoroughly enjoyed by growth outside of the arena in 2025 being more involved with races and hope to continue to grow that knowledge into 2026! Even if my next partner is not in God’s plans yet - I will continue to show up and continue to learn anything and everything I can soak up in and out of the arena to be someone my daughter can look up to and be proud of.ā€

Here’s why they wanted to rejoin the team:
ā€œ2025 was a year of trials and taught me perseverance and strength through tears to keep moving forward towards my goals regardless of how things unfold. Moving Forward is exactly what we have to do - we move forward and onward in grit and grace - that is what being on team is! Dr. Hannah always takes care of our horses to feel the best to keep moving and being the best partners to us.ā€

Remember when I said that the Moving Forward Team isn’t only for barrel racers?? Welcoming Hadley back for the second year!

Hadley is becoming an all around cowgirl adding cutting to her resume, along with roping, barrel racing, and pole bending. She doesn’t ALWAYS spend her time around horses. During her free time, she also likes working at a western boutique and a tack store (so pretty much horses šŸ˜„).

Her plans for 2026 are to improve her skills in all events. Hadley is one that continues to learn and grow each year, never being at a standstill. She gets her drive and big work ethic from her mom who you can often see right alongside Hadley, pushing her to be the best she can be and cheering her on.

We have a new face for 2026! Everyone give a warm welcome to Bergan ā¤ļø

Bergan is a junior and she hopes to qualify for the NDRA finals in barrel racing and High School Nationals in pole bending next year. She also plans to season quite a few young horses that she has raised!

Bergan started from the bottom and has climbed the ladder to have the success she has had. When she began barrel racing she trained one of her dad’s old ranch horses to barrel race and won her first buckle on him!

Bergan is being accepted on to the team because she encompasses what my business stands for—hard work, dedication, and cheering for those around you. Here’s what she had to say in her application:

ā€œI would love to be a part of the Moving Forward team because not only does Hannah make all of my horses feel amazing after they get worked on but also because she’s like a friend to me! I love it when I get to meet up with Hannah to get some horses worked on but also I love it when we can have a bunch of small talk about horses and such and how she truly cares for all the horses she works on and treats them as her own!ā€

She may have a ā€œtypeā€ of horse she likes to run šŸ˜„ I’m excited to welcome Mika back for 2026!

Mika is well on her way to achieving her goal of qualifying for the college national finals rodeo next year sitting second in the standings. She purchased a new gelding ā€œSurpriseā€ to run alongside her great horse ā€œPaycheckā€ since he’s getting older (but don’t tell him that).

When I die, if I get to choose what I come back into this world as, I would šŸ’Æ pick to be one of Mika’s horses so I too could get homemade cookies baked for me. šŸ˜„

On December 7th, you asked me what day it was. ā€œIt’s Dianna Day!ā€

It wouldn’t be December 7th without announcing Dianna back to the team like I do every December 7th during the NFR šŸ˜„

Her goals for 2026 is to keep her main man Rowdy sound and to keep building a relationship with her mare Sister. She loves to do it all—spending time with family and friends, gardening, canning, riding, and running her small business. I’m lucky to be a part of the team that keeps her two horses feeling great!

We have another original sponsored rider coming back for 2026!

Leah has spent the last few years rebuilding her lineup of horses and they are finally getting to go out there and compete! She had a phenomenal 2025 season on her main horse Sepp, winning several prizes, buckles, and checks!

Leah is a nursing student at Jamestown University so between horses and school, she stays pretty busy. Even with her full schedule, she finds time to read books and help run her family farm.

She really hopes to enter her first slot race next year and attend a few of the larger races now that her horses are seasoned like a nice piece of ribeye 🄩.

Getting to welcome back this sister duo to the team for 2026! These ladies are HUNGRY to succeed next year and I can’t wait for them to achieve their big goals.

Kinley hopes to make it to High School Nationals, the short go at Hooey JR Patriot, and also clean runs at the Extreme Millions in Waco next year. She has found a new hobby, wake boarding, and can often be found spending time at the lake with family (for the ten seconds a day she’s not with her horses šŸ˜‰).

Kaylee’s goals are to win a year end title for NDRA, get her pro card, and win a little bit of money on her futurity horse. Kaylee is constantly seeking more knowledge about horses and is highly trained in a few equine therapies herself, such as acuscope.

I hope you are all enjoying warm Texas for now but I can’t wait for you guys to come back to ND and kick some butt come spring!

Is it really the Moving Forward Team without Kinley Shipp? I think not. šŸ˜‰

Welcoming this boss babe, and of course her main mount Ruby, back to the team for 2026. Kinley has some big goals for rodeos, jackpots, and the Pink Buckle for next year that I hope to help her achieve!

Fun fact: She’s been on my team every year from the very first year!
