Retired Army Veteran Michael Hanna found a new way to serve by supporting other Veterans in his community. As a volunteer at the ATLAS site at American Legion Post 12 in Wickenburg, Arizona, he helps Veterans connect with their VA care teams through private, secure telehealth appointments.

ATLAS (Accessing Telehealth through Local Area Stations) brings VA care closer to Veterans in rural areas. Each site offers a quiet space with high-speed internet and video technology, allowing Veterans to meet virtually with their VA providers without traveling long distances.

Hanna says it best: “Veterans are family. They want a secure, safe place, and ATLAS offers that.”

🎉 Honoring a Centenarian Hero, Wilbert “Willy” Blauert! 🎉
We are proud to recognize Mr. Blauert, who turned 100 this past August, for his remarkable service and dedication to our great nation. As a WWII Army Veteran, Mr. Blauert recalls landing in Okinawa just after the atomic bomb had been dropped. While there, he collected shell casings and even crafted an airplane out of them when he returned home.
The Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Doug Collins, has recognized Mr. Blauert's immense sacrifices and contributions with the prestigious Centenarian Award. This recognition is a part of the Centenarian Recognition Program, which honors VA-enrolled Veterans who have reached the milestone of 100 years. Recipients receive a personalized letter and a challenge coin to commemorate their extraordinary journey.
Mr. Blauert, you embody the spirit of the “Greatest Generation” with your legacy of patriotism and honor. We extend our deepest gratitude to you and your family.
If you know a VA-enrolled Veteran who deserves this honor, you can nominate them for the Centenarian Award. For more details or to get a nomination form, reach out to the Center for Development & Civic Engagement at VHAfar100years@va.gov.
Thank you, Mr. Blauert, and happy 100th birthday! 🎂🎖️

🌲🎁 The Fargo VA has a "Veterans Giving Tree" and holiday display at the front entrance again this year! 🎁🌲
📅 The Giving Tree will be on display until just after the new year.
The Veterans Giving Tree program helps us meet the emergent needs of the unique and diverse Veteran population served by the Fargo VA Health Care System. These items will be used throughout the year as needed for Veterans; they are not individual requests made by specific Veterans.
📍 Donations of requested items may be left with any Red Coat Volunteer in the lobby of the North Main Entrance Monday through Friday from 8 am - 3 pm.
✨ If you would like to receive an acknowledgment letter for your tax-deductible contribution, please leave your contact information with your donation.
🔗 For those unable to pull a tag directly off the tree, requested items can also be found at DreamList.com/for/fargovagivingtree
Participation in the Veterans Giving Tree program is purely voluntary; there is no expectation that Veterans, staff, or community members contribute toward this cause.
📏 All donated items must be new with tags and/or in original packaging. We also ask that you do not gift wrap any of the donated items.
📞 For any questions, please contact the Fargo VA’s Center for Development & Civic Engagement at 701-239-3700 ext. 3395 or vhafarvol@va.gov.
Thank you for your generosity and support! ❤️

The Fargo VA Healthcare System Veterans and staff would like to extend their appreciation to Becky Bergman and the Benevolent and Protective Order (B.P.O) of the Fargo Elks #260 out of Fargo, ND, for their incredible donation of two hundred and eighteen emergency food bags for homeless and at-risk Veterans at the Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC).
Each emergency food bag contains enough food to last three days and helps to reduce food scarcity concerns for those in need. This annual drive to kick off the holiday season is a reminder of our community’s dedication to our Veterans.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks is just one of the dedicated groups, service organizations, religious organizations and community partners that support local Veterans with donations.
If you or your group is interested in improving the care of Veterans in our community, contact the CDCE office at vhafarvol@va.gov or by phone at 701-239-3700 ext. 3395 for a list of suggested donations or ongoing VA projects.
