🛑 The “Skull Crusher” (tension headaches) Headache⚡

That tight, relentless headache wrapping around your head or sitting behind your eyes may not be stress—it could be irritation of the greater occipital nerve at the base of your skull. Poor posture, screen time, and forward head position overload the tiny suboccipital muscles, causing tension and nerve compression that refers pain into the scalp, forehead, and eyes.

Your head weighs approximately 10–12 pounds. In neutral posture, the spine and surrounding structures support that weight efficiently. But when the head shifts forward—common with phones, computers, and driving—the load on the neck increases significantly causing tension and pain.

This extra stress places constant demand on the suboccipital muscles, causing fatigue and trigger points. When these muscles become chronically tight, they can irritate the greater occipital nerve causing pain in the head, temples, forehead and behind the eyes.

✨ How to break the cycle:
• Cervical retractions to realign posture - Gently retract your head straight back (making a double chin) to stack your skull directly over your spine.
• Muscle work at the base of the skull - Lie flat on your back and place two lacrosse balls directly at the base of your skull. Let the heavy weight of your head melt the glowing white trigger points.
• Stretch the chest/pecs daily
• Chiropractic care to determine and treat the source!!! 🫶

💧 How much water should you drink?

A good general starting point:
Half your body weight (lbs) in ounces per day
(Example: 160 lbs → ~80 oz/day)

Then adjust based on:
🏃‍➡️Exercise (add 12–24 oz per hour of activity)
🥵Heat/sweating
🤱Pregnancy/breastfeeding
🤢Illness or high stress
🍗Higher protein or fiber intake

A simple check: your urine should be light yellow—that’s a good hydration sign.

➡PRO TIP: It’s not just about more water—it’s about better hydration.
Electrolytes (like sodium, potassium, magnesium) help your body actually use the water you drink, especially if you're active or feel like water “goes right through you.”
