A gentle reminder about inclusion this Valentine's season 💝

As providers, therapists, teachers, and caregivers, we often want to do something special for the kids we work with during holidays - and that's wonderful! But here's something to keep in mind: inclusion isn't just about whether a child can eat the candy or play with the toy in the "typical" way. It's about them being remembered, thought of, and included in the gesture. When a child with medical needs, dietary restrictions, or physical disabilities is left out of small extras because we assume "they can't use it anyway," what they (and their families) actually experience is being forgotten or seen as "different" in a way that excludes them from the group.

Some ideas for inclusive little extras:
❤️Give the same item to everyone, even if some kids experience it differently (parents can adapt or it becomes a keepsake)
❤️Offer alternatives when you know specifics (a sticker instead of candy, a sensory-friendly option)
❤️Include a note for parents if the item needs adaptation
❤️Most importantly: don't skip a child entirely

The act of being included matters just as much as the gift itself. Every child deserves to feel like they're part of the whole group - not an afterthought or exception. Let's make sure ALL our kiddos feel seen and celebrated this Valentine's Day and beyond. ❤️

About Us

Full Circle Pediatric Solutions was created in 2019 by three sisters: Rachel (Bachmeier) Haman, Britney Bachmeier, and Jaclyn Bachmeier who share a common goal of providing high-quality evidence-based intervention to children and adolescents with varying needs and abilities. Full Circle staff emphasizes building relationships with the families, staff, and teams they serve. They provide a variety of services including individualized applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, school-based behavior consultation, and staff/parent professional development in Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, and the surrounding area. We also have a sister company, Full Circle Academy, which is a private, nonprofit school for students with exceptionalities. Our team is comprised of compassionate and highly skilled Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Registered Behavior Technicians, Speech Language Pathologists, and Occupational Therapists.

When beginning services, our team completes a comprehensive assessment of the child's skills, strengths, and areas of growth which helps drive the development of an individualized treatment plan. Through close monitoring of progress and continuous analysis of trends and outcomes, our team continues to re-evaluate the plan and further customize it to achieve the maximum progress.

Our treatment approach encourages active collaboration with parents and/or the school team throughout the duration of our services. Research indicates that engaging all who interact with the child in the treatment planning process leads to better generalization of skills across settings as it allows for multiple opportunities for the child to learn and practice new skills. Our goal is to help the family as a whole provide effective, consistent, and reinforced learning opportunities outside the therapy sessions in order to achieve the best outcomes for the child.
