Happy Retirement to Burghley!! 🎉

Burghley has been a dedicated blood donor since 2019 and he has always shown up happy and ready to donate! ❤️

Overall:
- 25 donations total
- 11,925 milliliters of blood
- More than 26 patients have received his blood

Yesterday we lost 2 very special blood donors 💔 Callie and Tilly

They weren’t just blood donors, they were family and they were loved by everyone. Both Callie and Tilly made every one near them smile and brightened people’s day. Callie loved to raise her paws for treats and Tilly always wanted to be near people for love ❤️ They left this earth too soon but we will always remember them and all the lives they saved.

A huge shout out to Maizey and Patrick, who rushed in on emergency this week to donate blood when our supply was running low! Their life-saving donations were quickly put to use, and we couldn’t have done it without them!

A big thank you to their wonderful human owners for getting them here in time to help save lives. We are beyond grateful for these furry heroes and their humans! 🐾

About Us

The Red River Animal Emergency Clinic Blood Bank is Fargo-Moorhead’s first veterinary blood donor program. Like humans, certain diseases, toxicities, traumas, and surgeries result in our beloved pets needing life saving blood product transfusions. Unfortunately, certain blood products, such as canine packed red blood cells, can take weeks to arrive when ordered from commercial blood banks. By collecting and processing blood in-house, we are able to provide the Red River Animal Emergency Clinic and surrounding veterinary clinics promptly with fresh blood products.

Our products are collected from happy and healthy community owned pets. Our canine donors are never sedated or forced to donate. All donors require a comprehensive screening before being enrolled into our program to ensure safety for both donors and recipients.
