Good Shepherd Hospice & Catholic Health Home Care GSH & CHHC are members of Catholic Health, providing expert medical, emotional and spiritual care.

Good Shepherd Hospice (GSH) is a non-profit organization that was created in 2001 with the merger of Good Samaritan, St. Charles and Mercy Hospices and represents a combined thirty years of experience serving the community. Our mission is to expand and enhance healthcare at the end-of-life for all individuals and their families living throughout Long Island, and to educate the community about hospice services. Good Shepherd Hospice helps patients and their families live each day fully, focusing on quality of life, control of symptoms and the things that matter to them the most. Catholic Health Home Care (CHHC) is a non-profit, non-denominational, home care agency certified by the Joint Commission. Catholic Home Care services more than 2,100 patients in their residences through the acute care agency and over 200 long term patients each day. The Home Care team consists of more than 550 dedicated professionals, para-professionals, and support staff to ensure that patients continue to have their home care needs met twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Specialty services include skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, nutritional counseling, medical social work, and home health aides. We have program specialties with highly trained staff to include pastoral care, behavioral health, infusion therapy, wound management, palliative care, and telehealth.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to an incredible young woman who has been creating holiday gift baskets for our hospice families for 13 years. From a Girl Scout project to a lasting tradition, her compassion continues, even while working as an oncology nurse in Virginia. With help from her parents, this year’s baskets were delivered just in time to bring comfort and warmth to our patients’ loved ones. Acts like these remind us of the power of kindness during the holidays.

Thank you to all who participated in 's 25th Annual Lights of Love bereavement ceremonies last week at the Hospice Inpatient Center in Port Jefferson and the Farmingdale Office.

Each year, the tradition continues as ornaments are placed on the Christmas tree before lighting the tree and menorah symbolizing that in spite of the darkness of our loved ones absence and depth of pain, the light of their life and presence continues to shine in our hearts and in our memories.

🐾 Paw-ffice Hours at Good Shepherd Hospice & Catholic Health Home Care!

Last week, our hearts were full, and our office was extra lively as we welcomed some very special visitors from Pawsitive Possibilities Rescue Inc.

These adorable, adoptable puppies came by for a little playtime and a whole lot of love—bringing smiles, cuddles, and wagging tails to our teams. Events like this are part of our ongoing effort to promote well-being and create joyful moments for our staff, all while supporting local rescue efforts.

A big thank you to Pawsitive Possibilities for the amazing work they do—and for letting us be a small part of these pups' journey to finding their forever homes.
