✨ “Shop with a Hero” is back! ✨

On Saturday, December 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., local law enforcement, first responders, and firefighters will team up with 50 children for a shopping spree they’ll never forget. From siren-on rides to choosing gifts for loved ones, it’s a chance to make the season brighter through joy, generosity, and connection.

We aim to raise $5,000, and every dollar helps make holiday magic possible.

👉 To donate, send a message directly to the Ripley County Resource Ministries page.

Hot cocoa (from SEMO!), cookies from Mrs. Claus, and even Smokey the Bear will be there to celebrate the night. 🎄

International Survivors of Su***de Loss Day honors the strength it takes to grieve, remember, and continue forward. If this time of year feels heavy, reach out in whatever way feels right for you. Healing begins in community.

Please share this post to remind others they're not alone, or take a quiet moment to honor the life you're remembering today, and be gentle with yourself. Grief is heavy, but you don't have to carry it alone.

If you or someone you love is struggling, call or text 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support anytime. 💜

🔊 Turn your sound on to hear this message from a Naylor R-2 School student!

Students who drink are more likely to miss school because of health or behavior issues, and that can ripple into grades, opportunities, and the future they are working toward.

SEMO’s Prevention Team is here to support healthy choices that keep students focused, present, and building toward something bigger.

Let’s create a future where success comes from commitment, not compromise. 💪

Our Prevention team celebrated Red Ribbon Week across Service Area 19, which includes communities throughout southeast Missouri, reaching hundreds of students through presentations, activities, and resources!

We visited Van Buren R-1 Elementary and East Carter County School District to share the Natural High program and inspire students to embrace their passions and make healthy, substance-free choices.

Throughout the week, we taught five essential life skills:
🧠 Self-awareness
🤝 Social awareness
✅ Responsible decision-making
🙅 Refusal skills
🧘 Self-management

We wrapped up the week with the BGC of Poplar Bluff - Heartland at their annual Trunk or Treat at McLane Park, connecting with families and celebrating Halloween in a fun, safe environment.

💪❤️ Thank you to all our partners for helping make Red Ribbon Week 2025 a success across southeast Missouri!

Today, we honor the veterans in our communities, our families, and on our care teams. We're grateful for your service and your sacrifice. If you need support, we're here for you.

Many who serve carry experiences the rest of us may never fully understand, and the impact extends to the families who stand beside them. Whether you're navigating transition, trauma, grief, or simply need someone to talk to, support is here.

To everyone who has served and the families who've stood beside them, we see you, we thank you, and we are honored to be here when you need us.

Our SEMO Prevention Team was proud to support the Mingo Health Fair in Stoddard County by equipping attendees with tools for wellness, recovery, and independence!

We shared resource bags filled with facts on substance use, va**ng, alcohol, and mental health, plus practical tools for quitting and staying well. Swag like stress balls helped spark meaningful conversations and made education more accessible.

Events like this matter. They meet people where they are, invest in second chances, and help turn knowledge into opportunity.

Caregiver burnout doesn’t show up in one dramatic moment. It builds over time. If you’re focused on caring for someone else, it’s easy to miss the signs in yourself.

Here are a few red flags to watch for:

😴 You’re tired no matter how much you sleep
😣 You feel anxious, irritable, or numb
📅 You cancel your own appointments and plans
🧠 You feel like you’re losing focus or patience
💬 You’ve stopped talking about your own needs or feelings

Sound familiar? You’re not alone, and you don’t have to wait until it gets worse.

During National Family Caregiver's month, or anytime you need support, take a breath. Check in with a mental health care provider. You deserve care too.

At Outreach Day in Butler County, our Prevention team came ready to connect, educate, and support.

Here’s what we shared with our community:

🔐 50+ lock boxes to promote safe storage of medications and substances

📎 988 swag like stickers, stress balls, and sticky notes to make mental health resources more visible and approachable

We connected with over 100 community members, planting seeds of prevention, awareness, and hope. Every item shared is a step toward a stronger, safer community!

Do you notice a shift in your mood or energy as the days get shorter?

Try these simple ways to care for your mental health this season:

☀️ Get sunlight every day.
Even 20 minutes near a window can help balance mood and sleep.

🥗 Fuel and move your body.
Enjoy fall treats and balance them with protein, fruits, and fun movement like walks, skating, and apple picking.

✅ Celebrate small wins.
Brushed your teeth? Checked one thing off your list? That counts.

🕰️ Protect your “you” time.
Schedule rest and joy before your calendar fills with commitments.

💛 Be gentle with yourself.
Feeling low doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re human.

If your mood or energy has been low for weeks, it could be Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), and support is available.

Talking to a provider can help you find what works best for your brain this season.
