At Outreach Day in Butler County, our Prevention team came ready to connect, educate, and support.

Here’s what we shared with our community:

👜 100 resource bags — 80 for adults with substance use and su***de prevention info, and 20 for youth focused on emotional wellness

🔐 50+ lock boxes to promote safe storage of medications and substances

📎 988 swag like stickers, stress balls, and sticky notes to make mental health resources more visible and approachable

We connected with over 100 community members, planting seeds of prevention, awareness, and hope. Every item shared is a step toward a stronger, safer community!

✨ “Shop with a Hero” is back! ✨

On Saturday, December 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., local law enforcement, first responders, and firefighters will team up with 50 children for a shopping spree they’ll never forget. From siren-on rides to choosing gifts for loved ones, it’s a chance to make the season brighter through joy, generosity, and connection.

We aim to raise $5,000, and every dollar helps make holiday magic possible.

👉 To donate, send a message directly to the Ripley County Resource Ministries page.

Hot cocoa (from SEMO!), cookies from Mrs. Claus, and even Smokey the Bear will be there to celebrate the night. 🎄

Do you notice a shift in your mood or energy as the days get shorter?

Try these simple ways to care for your mental health this season:

☀️ Get sunlight every day.
Even 20 minutes near a window can help balance mood and sleep.

🥗 Fuel and move your body.
Enjoy fall treats and balance them with protein, fruits, and fun movement like walks, skating, and apple picking.

✅ Celebrate small wins.
Brushed your teeth? Checked one thing off your list? That counts.

🕰️ Protect your “you” time.
Schedule rest and joy before your calendar fills with commitments.

💛 Be gentle with yourself.
Feeling low doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re human.

If your mood or energy has been low for weeks, it could be Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), and support is available.

Talking to a provider can help you find what works best for your brain this season.

World Mental Health Day lands on the calendar once a year, but our teams devote themselves to mental health advocacy and care every single day because mental health touches every home, classroom, workplace, and neighborhood around the world.

When we care for one another, we build stronger, more hopeful communities. What’s one small way you’ll care for your mental health, or someone else’s, today?

Depression doesn’t always look like sadness. It can show up as fatigue, irritability, physical pain, trouble focusing, or just feeling off in ways you can’t explain.

Today is National Depression Screening Day, a reminder that checking in on your mental health is just as important as any other part of your health.

A screening can help you understand whether what you're feeling is depression—or something else—and what kind of support might help. Like other basic health screenings, it's a simple step that provides more information, clarity, and options.

📝 Find a simple depression screening at the link in our comments, and share this post to help others understand that mental health deserves the same care and attention as any other part of health.

For those living with a mental health condition, life can feel like carrying an extra weight that others don’t see. Some days it’s heavy, some days lighter, but it’s always there.

During Mental Illness Awareness Week, we want everyone walking this path to know that they’re not alone.

💚 Connect with us in the comments: What’s one thing, big or small, that helps you feel supported on hard days?

Living with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) means carrying both challenges and strengths that aren’t always visible:

🧠 Forgetting things that matter, but also noticing details others overlook

⏰ Struggling with time, but also finding deep creative flow

💔 Feeling rejection more sharply, but also offering fierce empathy

🎯 Losing focus easily, but also hyperfocusing with persistence and creativity

ADHD isn’t something to “fix.” It’s a different way of moving through the world. To everyone navigating ADHD: your challenges are real, and your contributions matter.

✨ During ADHD Awareness Month, we’d love to hear: What’s one strategy, perspective, or bit of understanding that helps you, or someone you care about, thrive with ADHD?

Our Prevention Department recently teamed up with our Clinical Department to host a powerful and informative resource booth focused on fentanyl education.

We engaged attendees in meaningful conversations about:

🚩 The lethal amount of fentanyl and how even a tiny dose can be fatal.

🚩 The difference between medical-grade fentanyl and illicitly manufactured versions.

🚩 How to spot fake pills vs. real ones using the DEA’s One Pill Can Kill campaign.

Participants tested their knowledge, asked questions, and left with life-saving information and resources. We’re proud to be part of the effort to raise awareness and keep our community safe.

When you share your feedback, it doesn't disappear into a void.

It lands in the hands—and hearts—of real people.

Every week, our Client Experience team reads and shares your stories with providers and supervisors. Whether it's a concern or a thank-you, your words help shape how we grow.

Like this one:

"It's not just her skills and hard work that stand out, but her warm and compassionate spirit that truly sets her apart... She has played a pivotal role in helping me rebuild my life after trauma. Her unwavering support and guidance have been instrumental during a challenging time, and I truly thank God for her presence in my life."

This kind of feedback keeps our teams going by reminding us why we show up. So, if you've had a meaningful experience, please tell us!

Your words may give someone the strength to keep going, even when the work is heavy.
