We have been filling our hearts with the spirit of Giving! Each preschooler made a special picture for a friend. They took turns showing what they drew, giving it to their friend, and practicing expressing gratitude. It was the sweetest to see such thoughtfulness be put into this assignment. Even bringing out “happy tears” in some friends.

Let’s remember this season, that it’s not always the big or fancy stuff that matters. Small and simple gifts from the heart, acts of service, and loving kindness are what will have a lasting impact. Happy holidays!

Each unique personality is so loved at Grow with the Flow Preschool. We honor our similarities and differences, celebrate being ourselves, and feel love and safety in our friendships together.

This beautiful moment of empathy, compassion, and friendship stopped me in my tracks this week. Instead of intervening as the adult leader in class, I easily knew that these 3 year olds didn’t need me. They already had all the tools, language, and wisdom for this moment so I sat back and quietly learned from my little preschool teachers.

I got to witness a friend helping the other work through some big feelings in the Connection Corner. They spent time…

✨Naming the emotion and finding it on the feelings poster.
✨Using the breathing ball to take deep belly breaths.
✨Shaking up the glitter jar and watching it settle.
✨Snuggling a teddy bear and laying on some pillows.
✨Looking through the pages of a book.

Both children rejoined the class after the emotion felt smaller, and my heart just about exploded.💛

Today we enjoyed this beautiful book that illustrates the idea of our feelings being similar to the weather. ☀️🌧️🌈 ⚡️🌪️

They come and they go. One moment powerful and overwhelming, the next moment gentle and quiet, and everything in between. Just like the weather, the emotional storms inside our body are always changing and shifting.

When we allow ourselves to notice and feel each rising emotion, they can flow through us like water instead of getting stuck. Just as the earth is freshly renewed after a rainstorm, we too can feel relief and comfort after a good cry. Let it out! 👏

While it sure is exciting to anticipate all that we may GET during this holiday season, we’ve been shifting our focus to how it feels to GIVE!

Gifts from our heart can be small and simple, but they have a big impact on helping ourselves and others feel joy. Like giving a smile or wave hello, including a friend at playtime, showing attention while someone is telling a story, offering a helping hand to clean up.

Each student drew a picture from their heart to give a special classmate, and the excitement to share and receive was so magical to witness 💚🎁❤️

We are hosting a Connection Drive to support Utah Foster Care this holiday season! We are collecting items that foster family connection to help the healing among these resilient youth and families in our community.

What is being collected:
▪️family friendly games/activities
▪️gift cards to restaurants or stores (Walmart, Target, Amazon)
▪️memberships or tickets to a museum, aquarium, fun center, theatre, amusement park, etc.
▪️money through Venmo (100% of monetary donations will be given to Utah Foster Care)
▪️Connection Cards (for every deck purchased, another deck will be donated)

Donating can start NOW and will end November 18th.

Thank you for helping us give the gift of connection to these deserving kids!

Bring a “friend” to school day! We got to practice naming different emotions as each stuffed animal friend shared how they were feeling to be at school. Some were excited, happy, nervous, and mad ☺️

Autumn is upon us and the changes in the trees and mountains are stunning right now! The colors come and go so quickly it seems. Reminding me that we live in a constant state of changing and impermanence. To fully take in the beauty and wonder of each present moment because it will naturally let go and become something new with time.

Our preschoolers will create, let go of, then create again, beautiful patterns and pictures with collections from nature this week as we learn about Fall. 🍁
