Family and Friends of Generations

Today we know the day as “Veterans Day,” but until 1954 it was known as Armistice Day, officially recognizing the armistice agreement that ended WWI on Nov. 11, 1918.
Even though WWI was hopefully termed “the war to end all wars,” it was anything but.
By 1954 Americans had served in both WWII and the Korean War. Armistice Day was changed to Veterans Day on June 1, 1954.

It seems like we all know someone who has served, and Veterans Day is a great time to ask them about their service.
Learning more about their service can help you appropriately say "thank you."

Questions to ask a veteran

What did you do in the military?
How long did you serve?
What was your favorite moment in all your time in the service?
Did anyone else in your family serve?
Why did you go into the service branch you did?
