Last week, we kicked off Native American Heritage Month with a special celebration!

Shawna Elthie, a valued member of our Dining Services team, graciously invited her family—including her brother-in-law, niece, nephew, son, and sister—to share their cherished Pow Wow dance traditions with our residents.

It was an incredible afternoon filled with culture, music, and movement. Our residents truly enjoyed learning about and experiencing the rich heritage of Native American traditions.

Thank you to Shawna and her family for bringing such joy, pride, and culture to The Bridge!

We Are Better Together!

At Century Park, we believe the most meaningful way to show our appreciation for our teams is by standing beside them—working hand in hand to support the incredible service they provide every day.

Service Day is a time when Century Park leadership partners with associates in a selected department at our communities around the country in caring for the residents they serve. Through this act of service, we strengthen our teams and build even stronger relationships with our team members.

Today, our leadership team and sales teams are joining forces with our community partners for a special Sales Service Day dedicated to honoring and supporting local veterans. Together, we’ll be reaching out to veteran groups, attending local events, and inviting veterans to learn more about the supportive environments our communities offer. Whether it's through hosting informational sessions, delivering care packages, or simply saying thank you, we’re proud to stand alongside those who have served.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Val Barela, Our Amazing Lifestyles Director 🌟
This month, we're proud to shine a light on Val, whose deep New Mexican roots and vibrant traditions bring so much heart to our community at The Bridge at Farmington. "I'm reflecting on my roots and all the beautiful traditions that make up who I am. My mom taught me how to make ristras, and every time I hang one, I'm reminded of the love and culture she passed down. I've always loved the amazing New Mexican foods we cook—they're a big part of our heritage and family gatherings." Val's family history runs deep, with stories that span generations. Her Great-Grandma Martinez was from the town of Rosa, now submerged beneath the Navajo Dam. Her family built a little church there called Los Martinez, and her Grandpa Martinez has been a lifelong musician, even releasing several CDs of New Mexican music. Her Grandma Rosie owned the beloved Rosie's Taco Hut in Bloomfield, and Christmases were filled with La Posadas and luminarias. Her mother, Allecia, was the family historian, spending countless hours in the Santa Fe Archives researching land grants and ancestry. On her father's side, her Grandpa Barela was from La Plata and ran a restaurant in Farmington in the 1950s. Her Grandma Barela hailed from Durango, Colorado (La Posta), where Val's Southern Ute heritage comes from. Today, Val is a proud mother of two sons, Jose and Robert, and a new "glama" to her precious grandson, Andres. 💙 "I am proud to carry on these traditions and celebrate where we come from—our food, our history, and our strong sense of family." Thank you, Val, for sharing your story and for the joy and culture you bring to our residents every day!

🌟 Farmington is lucky to have such an active and supportive Chamber of Commerce! 🌟 Every Wednesday morning, I have the pleasure of joining the Leads & Referrals networking group as the Sales Director at The Bridge at Farmington. This weekly meeting, hosted by O&G Hardware in Flora Vista, was another fantastic opportunity for Chamber members to connect, share updates on community events, and explore ways we can uplift one another and our beautiful city. I truly love the fellowship and camaraderie we share—not just for our teams, but for the community at large. 💛
