The second full week of November is National Nurse Practitioner week. San Juan County and the City of Bloomfield have both issues proclamations honoring the Nurse Practitioners in our community. In addition to that, we want to say how thankful we are for our Nurse Practitioners here at PFP! Their commitment to delivering high-quality patient care, their unwavering compassion, and their drive to support both patients and colleagues are what make our practice great. We are fortunate to have such amazing and devoted providers.

NATIONAL NURSE PRACTITIONERS' WEEK, 2025
San Juan County has proclaimed the week of Nov. 9-15 as Nurse Practitioners' Week. See the Proclamation below:

Whereas nurse practitioners (NPs) have served a critical role as trusted health care providers for decades; and

Whereas NPs work to expand health care access in communities across our state, promote health equity in care and improve health outcomes for all; and

Whereas patients depend on the more than 431,000 licensed NPs in the United States to diagnose, manage and treat their chronic and acute health care conditions; and

Whereas, NPs provide high-quality primmy, acute and specialty health care services while emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, health education and counseling, partnering with patients to improve their health; and

Whereas the confidence that patients have in NP-delivered health care is evidenced by the more than I billion visits made annually to NPs across the country; and

Whereas better utilization ofNPs through modernized state laws and improved policies creates better health through a more accessible, efficient, cost-effective and higher-quality health care system; and

Whereas, more than half the nation - including 27 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands - has adopted Full Practice Authority legislation, offering patients full and direct access to the outstanding care provided by NPs; and

Whereas NPs serve as the provider of choice for many San Juan County residents and play a pivotal role in the health and welfare of our communities, and

Whereas San Juan County is proud to recognize and honor the service of NPs to our state.

Be It Resolved, therefore, that as Chair of the Commission, I declare
November 9-15, 2025, as National Nurse Practitioner Week
in San Juan County, NM.

We understand there is an active swat situation in Farmington at this time. To ensure staff safety, our office will be closed until we have updates that it is safe for staff to travel and report to work. We apologize for any inconvience.

We want to make our patients aware that scammers are now "spoofing" phone numbers, deliberately falsifying the information transmitted to your caller ID, making it look your doctor's office might be calling.

If you are ever unsure of the call you receive or have questions, hang up and call our office back. Our office staff are here to ensure your data stays safe and any concerns are reported to the proper authorities.

With that being said, if you contact our office asking for chart information or test results, we may ask that you verify your identity to ensure that we have the correct patient. If there is ever a question, you are welcome to ask for the staff's information, your nurse, or a supervisor for clarification.

Megan Velasquez-Baca was featured in NMNPC’s May Member Spotlight! Congratulations Megan, we are so happy you are a part of our Piñon Family Practice team.

Megan Velasquez-Baca, MSN, FNP-C is the May NMNPC Member in the Spotlight from Region 1. She’s originally from Bloomfield, New Mexico where she graduated high school. She attended UNM for her BSN, then began her nursing career by working in the NICU and PICU at UNM before moving to Farmington to work at San Juan Regional Medical Center and the Women’s Health Center.
