We're officially less than a month out from the Sugarloaf Charity Summit!

Sugarloaf Charity Summit is Sugarloaf’s premier fundraising event, providing an opportunity for Sugarloafers, old and new, to join forces in the fight against cancer by raising a mountain of money for the Dempsey Center, Maine Cancer Foundation, and Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center. All proceeds support cancer prevention, screening, access to care, and patient support in Maine.

Be sure to save the date for the Charity Challenge and Gala + Auction on Saturday, January 27th. Learn more about both events at https://sugarloafcharitysummit.org/

Meet Lois. She’s a state Representative, women’s rights activist, and colon cancer survivor.

“All survivors go through that moment of terror, the shock, the fear of the unknown. But they ultimately move on to a period of joy, and a realization that they just have to move. They just have to do it.”

MaineHealth recommends women discuss screening options with their primary care providers.

During October—Breast Cancer Awareness Month—we promote awareness for safe screening and ways to stay healthy to control and prevent breast cancer risks.

Franklin Memorial Hospital (FMH) is leading the way when it comes to screening patients for colorectal cancer. “This is good news for our patients,” said Joseph Caruso, MD, a surgeon at Franklin Health Surgery. “Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths for men and women, but it is also the most preventable cancer with regular screenings. Higher screening rates means a healthier community. http://mh.care/ISJc50E9KBw
