Community ALERT!!! Franklin County is currently receiving numerous calls from citizens and businesses that people are calling them claiming to be Deputies of either Franklin County or Oxford County. They are claiming to be looking for individuals who they are claiming have warrants for their arrest and are seeking information about these people. These are SCAMS. Please do not provide information about yourself or other people to anyone on the phone. If you ask to see an officer in person, they will likely hang up on you or tell you that you are going to be arrested. These are scare tactics to try to control you and not legitimate police officers. Legitimate police rarely call you on the phone unless they are returning your phone calls. Legitimate police will never ask you for money over the phone or tell you that you need to pay them to keep from being arrested. Be aware. Be cautious. If in doubt, call your local police department or the sheriff's office.
