Previous cleft lip repairs often change the anatomy of the lips, including the way blood vessels run through the tissue. Because of prior surgeries and scar tissue, the vascular pattern can be very different from a natural lip. This means injectors must have a deep understanding of anatomy and be highly trained to safely place filler while carefully monitoring for signs of vascular occlusion.
