Today we recognize Tourette Syndrome Awareness Day.

Tourette Syndrome is a neurological condition that may cause involuntary movements or sounds known as tics. These behaviors are not intentional, and they are not something a person can simply stop.

What makes the biggest difference is understanding.

With patience, compassion, and support, individuals with Tourette Syndrome can thrive and live full, meaningful lives.

At LEAP, we are committed to creating spaces where every individual is treated with respect, acceptance, and care.

Today we recognize Dyslexia Awareness Day as part of Neurodiversity Awareness Week.

Dyslexia simply means the brain processes reading and language differently. It has nothing to do with intelligence. In fact, many individuals with dyslexia have incredible strengths in creativity, problem solving, and big picture thinking.

When we shift our perspective from “difficulty” to “difference,” we begin to see the unique talents that neurodiverse minds bring to the world.

At LEAP, we believe every learner deserves support, understanding, and encouragement as they discover their own path to success.

Let’s continue building environments where every learner feels seen, supported, and capable.

This week we’re honoring Neurodiversity Awareness Week and celebrating the many different ways our brains work, learn, and experience the world.

Every day this week we’re highlighting a different form of neurodiversity. Dyslexia, Tourette Syndrome, Autism, ADHD/ADD, and Down Syndrome. Each one comes with its own challenges, strengths, and incredible individuals who contribute so much to their families and communities.

Neurodiversity reminds us that there is no single “right” way for a brain to work. Differences in thinking, learning, communicating, and processing the world are part of the natural diversity of humanity.

When we lead with understanding, patience, and inclusion, we create spaces where people can truly thrive.

At LEAP, we are committed to supporting individuals and families with compassion, respect, and evidence based care. We believe every person deserves the opportunity to build confidence, develop skills, and reach their full potential.

Join us this week as we learn, share, and celebrate neurodiversity together.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause and look back at how far we’ve come.

A reminder as the week comes to a close:

You survived every moment that tried to overwhelm you this week.

The stress.
The conversations that drained you.
The responsibilities that kept piling up.

Even if it didn’t feel graceful.
Even if you felt exhausted.
Even if all you did was keep going.

That still counts.

Progress in mental health doesn’t always look like big breakthroughs.

Sometimes it looks like getting through the week.

If this week was heavy for you, take a moment tonight to breathe and reset.

You made it here.

What is one small thing you are doing for yourself this weekend?

Some mornings feel quiet.

Not peaceful. Not energized.
Just quiet.

You sit with your thoughts a little longer than usual.
You stare out the window.
You wonder what the day will ask of you.

Edward Hopper captured moments like this in his painting Morning Sun (1952). A woman sits in sunlight, alone with her thoughts. The scene is simple, but the emotion is familiar to many of us.

Mental health isn’t always about crisis. Sometimes it’s about the quiet moments in between. The moments when you are thinking, processing, healing, or simply trying to gather the energy to start the day.

If today feels heavy, you are not alone.
Support, reflection, and small steps forward all matter.

Guidance and support for IEP meetings, 504 plans, school concerns, and educational advocacy.

If you’ve ever left a school meeting feeling confused, overwhelmed, or unsure what your next step should be, you’re not alone.

At LEAP, our educational advocacy services are designed to help families feel supported, informed, and confident when navigating school concerns, IEP meetings, and 504 plans.

Sometimes families just need someone to talk things through with. Other times they need help reviewing records, preparing for meetings, or having an advocate by their side. That’s exactly what our advocacy team is here for.

We offer flexible levels of support depending on what your family needs, including:

• A supportive consultation to help you understand your options and next steps
• Record review with written recommendations and strategies
• Ongoing preparation and communication support
• Full advocacy support for school meetings when needed

Our goal is simple: clear guidance, steady support, and practical next steps so families can move forward with confidence.

If you’re navigating school concerns or need help understanding the process, our care team is here to help.

At LEAP we love sharing helpful resources for parents, caregivers, and anyone supporting little learners.

We recently came across this fun website where kids can safely explore the keyboard and mouse while building hand eye coordination and curiosity.

It is simple, engaging, and perfect for toddlers who love pressing every button they can find.

Trauma doesn’t only live in our memories. It can also be held in the body and nervous system.

That’s why newer trauma therapies like Brainspotting are getting more attention in the mental health field. Instead of only talking through experiences, Brainspotting helps people access deeper parts of the brain where emotional and trauma responses are stored.

This article from Cleveland Clinic explains how Brainspotting works and why it can be helpful for people working through trauma, anxiety, and overwhelming life experiences.

At LEAP, we believe healing happens when people feel safe, supported, and understood. Trauma informed approaches like Brainspotting allow individuals to process experiences at their own pace while staying grounded and supported.

If you’ve ever wondered how trauma therapy works or why some approaches go beyond traditional talk therapy, this is a great read.

Families do best when they’re supported from every angle. That’s the heart of the LEAP Wrap Around Model.

At LEAP, we know that real progress doesn’t come from just one service. It comes from a team working together to support the whole child and the whole family.

Our wrap around approach connects families with the support they need in one place, including:

• Individual therapy with personalized treatment plans
• Family therapy to strengthen communication and connection
• Parent coaching and practical skill building
• Dedicated coaches for real life support and guidance
• Advocacy to help families navigate systems and resources
• Care coordination and community collaboration
• Flexible options with both in person and telehealth services

Every family’s journey is different. Our goal is to meet you where you are and walk alongside you with the support, guidance, and care you deserve.

When families have the right team behind them, meaningful change becomes possible.

If you’re looking for comprehensive, compassionate wrap around support, LEAP is here for you.

Many people have never heard of Brainspotting, but it can be a powerful tool for healing.

Brainspotting helps people process trauma, emotional stress, and even physical symptoms connected to emotional experiences. Instead of just talking through a problem, it helps the brain and body release what has been stored beneath the surface.

In a Brainspotting session you can expect:
• A conversation about what you want to work on
• Gentle guidance to notice where you feel emotions in your body
• Identifying a “brainspot” connected to that experience
• Focused processing to help your brain release and reorganize the stress response
• Grounding and integration before the session ends

Healing is not about forcing change. It is about creating the right conditions for the brain and body to process safely.

Curious about Brainspotting or wondering if it might help you?
