Thursday update ❄️⛄️

Snow is expected to begin Saturday around midday, but conditions are not expected to significantly worsen until late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

⚠️This system is shaping up to be a high-impact winter storm❄️

Current guidance shows:
• Totals of 8 inches or more possible
• Forecast confidence continues to increase, with a 70–80% chance of exceeding 8 inches in our area

Ice is now a major concern in parts of the region, but Marion County is expected to see primarily snow, with heavier icing remaining south of us.

Temperatures will be extremely cold, with Sunday through Tuesday morning well below zero, increasing the risk for dangerous road conditions and exposure concerns.

Marion County is currently under a Winter Storm Watch from Saturday through Monday, and this may be upgraded as the system approaches.

Floaters vs. Flashes: What’s Normal and What’s Dangerous?

We all see floaters or flashes sometimes—but when are they a problem?

✅ Normal: Occasional small floaters that move when you shift your eyes.

⚠️ Dangerous: Sudden increase in floaters, flashes of light, or a dark shadow in your vision.

These may signal a retinal tear or detachment. Don’t wait—see your ophthalmologist right away.

WHAT IS A DETACHED RETINA?

A detached retina is a serious condition in which the retina lifts away from the back of the eye. Symptoms include seeing flashing lights suddenly, like seeing stars after being hit in the eye; noticing many new floaters (specks, lines or cobwebs in your field of vision); shadow appearing in your peripheral vision; and a gray curtain covering part of your field of vision.

Call an ophthalmologist immediately if you have any of these symptoms.
