I was asked to donate an item for a local silent auction, and I decided to put together a “coping kit.” This is something I often encourage clients who struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, substance use, or self-harm urges to create.

The kit includes simple, practical items that help ground us in the present moment and soothe our nervous system when it’s in overdrive. These tools can be incredibly helpful during stressful or overwhelming moments.

It’s also easy to keep a kit like this nearby. Tuck one into your purse, diaper bag, desk, bedroom, or car so support is always within reach.

Walk when:
- you’re having a difficult conversation
- you just got bad news
- you’re with a child who’s having a tantrum or a huge reaction “ok let’s walk together” get them moving
- you’re having therapy (if using telehealth or by phone especially)
- you’re feeling irritable and don’t know why
- you have to give someone bad news
- you wake up groggy
- you have brain fog or feel like your brain is “shut off”
- you want to text something you might regret
- you have to make a big decision
- your brain won’t stop replaying the conversation
- you want to connect with consciousness, god, or the universe
- you want to forgive yourself

There are a lot of misconceptions about therapy. It’s not about “fixing” you, and it’s not about being broken. It’s a rare opportunity to slow down and reflect on who you are, what you value, and who you want to become.
It can be messy. I’m imperfect, too. I won’t always say the right thing or have all the answers. But I believe there’s something really beautiful in that.

It's that time of year again! Let's go on a hot girl walk. 🚶‍♀️‍➡️

I’ve been a little quiet over here lately, and it’s for a good reason. I’ve been busy! This weekend feels like a great time to slow things down. What are you doing to rest and relax during this cold snap?

Talking about your feelings with your partner should create connection not conflict. When a simple conversation consistently turns into an argument, it may be a sign that both of you are overwhelmed, unheard, or stuck in old patterns.

It’s okay to take a step back, breathe, and revisit the conversation when you’re both calmer and more grounded. Healthy relationships aren’t about avoiding tough feelings. They’re about learning how to navigate them together.

The holiday season can be challenging for many valid reasons. Seasonal Affective Disorder can make even the brightest days feel heavy. This time of year may also stir up grief, amplify feelings of loss, or highlight family and relationship stressors.

Whatever the reason, if you find yourself struggling, please know you don’t have to go through it alone. Maybe this is a time to be intentional about self-care. Maybe it’s an opportunity to set healthy boundaries. And maybe it’s time to talk with a professional who can help you navigate what you’re experiencing.

Reach out if you need support. Your feelings are valid, and help is available.
