Christiane C. Long, PhD, LCSW

Christiane C. Long, PhD, LCSW At times we need an outside perspective, and maybe just someone to listen to us. I believe in holding healthy space for those in need of healing.

In order to tailor treatment to each client's needs, I tend to pull from various tenets and modalities of evidence-based therapies. I focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and understand the mind-body connection; I am also trained in EMDR for trauma treatment. In therapy, I take a non-judgmental and accepting stance in order to work with a diverse population. LGBTQIA Ally and Welcoming, Sex-Positive, Polyamorous and non-monogamy affirming, Kink-allied and aware, and supporter of diversity, equality, and equity.

This conference week has been one for the books. Feeling incredibly grateful as this week comes to a close. Huge thank you to the board, my partner in crime , .barroness, the attendees, the presenters, and all the supporters and sponsors—you made this experience unforgettable. The energy, knowledge, and camaraderie were truly something special and I don’t take it lightly or for granted.
Now it’s time for me to take off my lanyard, recharge, and reflect on it all. Until next time. Social Work Action Coalition

I’m excited about this panel at the SWAC Conference. Advocacy work in Arkansas can be tough, and I’m grateful for the people who continue to show up and push for change.
Really looking forward to hearing from Mackenzi Foreman, Kirsten Sowell, Rep. Tippi McCullough, Rep. Ashley Hudson, and Christin Harper-with Kathy Webb moderating. I’m lucky to know several of these folks and the work they do is the real deal.
If you’re attending the conference, this will be a great conversation about where advocacy in Arkansas has been — and where we still need to go.

Join us at the SWAC Conference for Plenary II:
“Fighting the Good Fight: Reflections on Advocacy in Arkansas and What’s Still to Be Done.”
This powerful conversation will bring together advocates, policymakers, and community leaders to reflect on progress in Arkansas and the work that still lies ahead.
Featuring:
• Mackenzi Foreman, LCSW, PMH-C
• Kirsten Sowell, LCSW
• Rep. Tippi McCullough
• Rep. Ashley Hudson
• Christin Harper
• Moderator: Kathy Webb, Little Rock City Director (Ward 3) & Interim Executive Director of Get Loud Arkansas

Social Workers, thank you for all that you do. This month and every month.

Social Workers, thank you for all that you do. This month and every month.

⭐️ Happy Social Work Month ⭐️
Social workers show up in hospital rooms during life-changing diagnoses. They sit with families navigating grief, uncertainty, and impossible decisions. They support children learning to feel safe again, parents trying to hold things together, and communities facing challenges bigger than any one person can solve.
They advocate in courtrooms, classrooms, clinics, shelters, and at the Capitol. They translate complicated systems into human language. They help people find stability when life has pulled the rug out from underneath them.
Most of this work happens quietly. There is no applause after a successful safety plan. No headline when a client finally sleeps through the night. No award ceremony for the social worker who stayed late, made one more call, or refused to give up on someone others had written off.
But the impact is real — every single day across Arkansas and beyond.
To every social worker serving with compassion, courage, and integrity:
We see you.
We appreciate you.
And we thank you.
Happy Social Work Month. 💛

Most days, I think as social workers, we are carrying more than we would like to admit. It is like having a backpack on that you forgot you were wearing until the straps start cutting in. Inside are pieces of other people’s lives: things clients trusted us with, things we witnessed and could not u...
