Clothing Drive for Cape Fear Valley Health Pediatric Patients 👕👚

One of the ways Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation supports children's services is by providing clothes to pediatric patients in need. Items may be given to patients whose clothes were damaged in a car accident, whose clothing does not meet necessary safety requirements, or who do not have the resources for adequate clothing.

Over the last few months, our clothing supply has dwindled, and are we asking our community to help support this effort. Most needed items include:
- Onesies, Pants, Shirts (sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months)
- T-Shirts, Yoga Pants, Sweatpants, Shorts (adult sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL)

*All items must be new and unused*

🌟Employee Donor Spotlight: Ginny Capiot, Marketing Coordinator🌟

How long have you been with the health system? 20 years

Why did you become an employee donor? I wanted to give back to my community.

What inspires you to give? When you walk in the cancer center, you can see the difference the Foundation makes – from wigs and turbans to gift bags for breast cancer patients to the tram that picks you up in the parking lot! It means so much to those who are sick and if I can help bring a smile to one patient’s face…. Well, how could I not contribute?

How do you see acts of kindness displayed at CFVH? I see acts of kindness all throughout the health system – from telling your coworker they did a good job, to meeting a patient in the eye and thanking them for choosing us. We are fortunate to be surrounded by kindness everyday!

Thank you, Ginny, for being such a loyal donor and advocate of the Foundation! We are grateful to work with you and have your continued support!

Cape Fear Valley Health has been recognized as a 2025 Well-Being First Champion by ALL IN: Well-Being First for Healthcare, a national initiative focused on improving the well-being of the health care workforce and advancing mental health support across the industry. 🏆

The Well-Being First Champion designation is awarded to health systems that demonstrate a commitment to supporting clinicians by removing stigmatizing language and barriers related to mental health care from credentialing and licensing applications. The recognition highlights Cape Fear Valley Health’s efforts to foster a culture where physicians and providers can prioritize their well-being while continuing to deliver high-quality patient care.

“Working in health care is both deeply meaningful and inherently demanding,” said Sam Fleishman, MD, chief medical officer at Cape Fear Valley Health. “Each day, our physicians and providers navigate complex clinical challenges while supporting patients, families, colleagues and care teams. The responsibility is great, and the emotional and professional demands can be significant. Sustaining personal well-being, managing stress and prioritizing self-care are essential not only for individual success, but for maintaining the strength and resilience required to care for others.”

Will you honor your doctor this Doctors' Day? 👩‍⚕️

National Doctors’ Day on Monday, March 30, is a meaningful opportunity to recognize the physicians whose expertise, compassion and dedication touch our lives every day and strengthen the health of our community. At Cape Fear Valley Health, we see firsthand how deeply physicians are committed to caring for others. Their skill, professionalism, and compassion make a lasting difference for patients and families throughout our region. 🫶

Expressions of gratitude from patients and families are a powerful source of meaning, resilience, and renewal, and can play an important role in helping prevent burnout. We invite you to take part in this year’s Doctors’ Day celebration by sharing your gratitude for a physician who has made a difference. 🩺

You can share a personal message with a physician who has positively impacted your life — or the life of someone you love — by completing a tribute online. ✍️ When you include a thoughtful gift to Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation, your message will be shared with your doctor(s), and they will be recognized as a 2026 Doctors’ Day Honoree. Your gift amount will remain confidential.
