We have an updated date and time!!! Due to the weather we had to postpone this outdoor event on Solstice. BUT have no fear, has stepped up to support and we will be holding it at their location on June 28! We are so excited! We will usher in summertime a little later than expected, but join us to gather in community and move our bodies!

My very first Yoga Therapy work began in this extra special space. A simple fitness room at Vandenberg Air Force base. I had taught classes there for a year before starting my certification. And when I started offering Yoga Therapy, the amount of support and love I felt from my students was unreal. And their openness to the work in a place I never expected. I was heartbroken when the pandemic began just shortly after my yoga therapy work started gaining traction on base (as well as Veterans Treatment Court, UCSB’s student veteran center and a outpatient trauma recovery center) which put me on an entirely different life trajectory for a few years.

I don’t have words for how much I love bringing yoga to military members and their families. It’s a community I feel honored and humbled to have served, and continue to serve. Being new here in Fayetteville, I am trying to find my way to offer this work in a way that serves our military members and their families best. If you have any interest at all in you or a loved ones healing from trauma, anxiety, depression and chronic pain, please reach out. I am here for you ❤️🙏🏻

I am soooooo excited about this! Many of you know I started diving into about four years ago. I used to be the person terrified of the cold. I started doing breathwork and suddenly the fear of the cold was gone and boom, I now jump in frozen lakes any chance I get 🤣

What I want to say here is: the practice of going into the cold allowed me to explore the role discomfort played in my life. The past four years has been a playful exploration of the incredibly powerful role discomfort has in our lives, and the necessity of it for our nervous systems to develop resilience. And it’s NOT just through cold exposure, discomfort is everywhere, everyday. It’s an incredible chance to explore ourselves in a way we tend to avoid. In yoga therapy, we call it the edge. Whatever it’s called, it’s critical.

Healing isn’t just learning to relax. How many of you can relate: if you’ve got a lot of anger learning to “relax” doesn’t make that anger go away! The anger is still there! Or the shame or the fear, or whatever uncomfortable emotion that exists will still be there.

✨You CAN learn to deepen your connection with these feelings so they have a lot less control over you.

We have just relocated here and I am searching for a space to use for Yoga Therapy sessions, and will be taking on new clients very soon.

Let me re-introduce myself for those who might be new around here! My name is Samantha and I’ve been serving the military community and their families through Yoga & Yoga Therapy for close to 8 years now. I’ve offered this work on bases, universities, veterans treatment courts, trauma centers, and through fitness/yoga studios. I LOVE this work…I’ve seen it not only change the lives of others but it’s also changed my own life🌱 with my own diagnosis of PTSD and panic disorder many years ago, I’ve used yoga to align my life, live sober, and ultimately strive to thrive in my everyday. This stuff works…and my goal is to share it with those who want to learn, heal and grow.

I will be offering one-on-one Yoga Therapy sessions soon, and these sessions can be supportive for you if you:

•are feeling overwhelmed in your day to day life
•struggling with anxiety, panic, depression or traumatic stress
•are looking for a complement to psychotherapy or finding psychotherapy just isn’t working for you
•are seeking self-growth

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy helps us understand the wisdom of our own bodies.

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy uses yoga postures, movements and dialogue with the yoga therapist to access healing, connection to oneself, and resilience. Tuning into sensations in the body is an alternate form of healing. Our society exists "in the head", meaning we often try to think our way out of pain and suffering. Instead of thinking, Yoga Therapy teaches individuals to feel (to literally feel in their body) their way to awareness of patterns and behaviors, acceptance of self, and enhanced well-being.
