This past weekend was nothing short of breathtaking. ✨
We closed out the inaugural Society of Black Colon & Re**al Surgeons Conference with a Gala at the National Center for Civil & Human Rights—a place rooted in legacy, courage, and the pursuit of justice.

As if the night wasn’t already historic… we became the first group to receive a private viewing of the brand-new exhibit featuring artifacts from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., curated by his daughter, Dr. Bernice King. To witness that history with our society—Black surgeons, families, mentors, and future leaders—was emotional and unforgettable.

As the newly inducted President of SBCRS, I shared a message that will guide my term:
Partnership. Purpose. Progress.
Three pillars that will move our society, our patients, and our field forward.

A night of glitz, glam, gratitude, and generational impact.
History was made this weekend—and we’re only getting started. 💙
