Introducing The Love Below — a new Instagram Live series dedicated to comprehensive colorectal and pelvic health education.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. But true prevention requires more than just a screening conversation.

It requires understanding how:

• GI health
• Gynecology
• Pelvic floor function
• Menopause
• Fibroids & endometriosis
• And even certain gynecologic cancers

intersect with colorectal health.

Beginning Tuesday, March 3 at 7:15PM ET, Dr. Erin King-Mullins will host a series of LIVE conversations with leaders across these specialties to help patients understand their bodies more completely.

This is about education.
This is about empowerment.
This is about loving yourself below the belt.

Before the white coat…
Before the operating room…
There was Xavier University of Louisiana 💛

Proud HBCU graduate. Proud New Orleans roots.
This week, as we honor the life and legacy of Norman C. Francis, I’m reminded how deeply education shapes destiny.

He led Xavier for nearly five decades — building one of the nation’s top producers of Black physicians and scientists.

His words still ring true:
“The future belongs to those who are educated.”
That belief didn’t just inspire students.
It created leaders.
Grateful for the foundation.
Grateful for the legacy.
Grateful to be part of the Xavier story.

FAST FRIDAY taste testing🥤😋

After Valentine’s treats and birthday celebrations (because balance is real life), I’m back to fueling with intention.

Today’s review: The Chunky Monkey Smoothie from .

Peanut butter. Rolled oats. Maple. Cocoa nibs.
And yes… chunky enough that I learned my lesson and grabbed a spoon this time 😅

Here’s the thing though — I talk to patients every single day about gut health, inflammation, fiber, healing, bowel habits… all of it.

What we eat matters.
Energy matters.
Consistency matters.

If I’m asking my patients to prioritize their gut, I'm definitely doing the same.

Let’s just say… we’re leaning deeper into nutrition this year. Like, clinic-level deeper. 👀
That’s all I’ll say for now. 😉

Atlanta friends — who else is trying to get their gut together in 2026?

This weekend I had the honor of speaking at the Brain Health Symposium hosted by the Joi Life Foundation on: “Nourishing the Brain: Nutrition & Gut Health.”

The brain and the gut are deeply connected — inflammation, microbiome health, nutrition, stress — it all matters.

But what meant the most?

My daughter, McKenzie, sitting in the audience watching her mom on stage.
She saw:
• The preparation
• The science
• The leadership
• The responsibility

Legacy isn’t what you leave behind.
It’s what your children see you build in real time.

Grateful for the invitation.
Grateful for the mission.
Grateful she was there to witness it.

Monday mood: white coat on, clinic to hospital in 60 seconds… and lunch handled. 🥗💙

People ask me all the time how I eat healthy with a surgeon schedule.

Truth?
You either prep…
or you pay someone to prep for you. 😌

This week I’m trying Thistle — quick shake of the dressing, mix it up, and boom. Clean, plant-forward fuel on the go.

As a colorectal surgeon, I can’t talk about gut health all day and then ignore my own.

Fiber. Whole foods. Real ingredients. Hydration.
Small decisions = long-term colon health.

Kick off your week feeding your gut something that loves you back. 🫶

Colorectal surgery is not casual.

It’s millimeters. 🤏
It’s anatomy most people never see.
It’s decisions that affect comfort, continence, healing, and quality of life.

I’m double board-certified in General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery for a reason. ☺

Precision isn’t optional in this field.
It’s the standard. 🏅

Whether we’re talking colon cancer, diverticulitis, pelvic floor issues, or a**l restorative procedures like ***yTouchUp — details matter.

And on Saturdays, I just like to reflect on the craft. 😎

Fast Friday 2.0: Birthday Edition 🕷️🎂

Sometimes surgery start times get pushed back just a little…
because a certain new 3-year-old needs his Spider-Man goody bags finished first. 🥹

Maxwell turns THREE.
How does time fly this fast?

Surgeon life means early mornings, long cases, and serious conversations.
But mama life? That means balloons, cake, and making sure every kid leaves the party with webs and candy. 🕸️❤️

Balance isn’t perfect.
But it’s beautiful.

Happy Birthday, my sweet boy. 💙

Okay… I’m really excited about this one. 🥹📚

The cover for my newest children’s book is DONE. 🙏🏾

“Mommy’s Brave Journey” is a story to help families talk about colon cancer in a way that feels safe, honest, and empowering for kids.

As a colorectal surgeon, I have difficult conversations every week.
As a mom, I know how hard it is to explain medical things to little ones.😩

So I wrote the book I wish more families had.

This one joins:
📖 Mommy Gets a Colonoscopy
📖 Mommy, I Made a Boo-Boo

Because education shouldn’t start at 45.
It should start with conversation.

Coming soon. 💙

If you’ve ever struggled with how to explain cancer, colonoscopies, or surgery to your child… this one’s for you.

For those who quietly adjust.
Who sit carefully.
Who pack wipes.
Who avoid intimacy.
Or even those who were told “it’s normal after babies.”

It might be common.
But it’s treatable.

T***y Touch Up™ is a specialized anorectal procedure focused on restoring comfort and function — not chasing perfection.

As a double board-certified colorectal surgeon in Atlanta, I tailor each case to the individual anatomy and symptoms. No templates. No judgment. 🫶🏾

If something feels off, you deserve to understand why.
