ENA recently released a new Action Alert for the Save Healthcare Workers Act that would make it a federal crime to assault hospital personnel โ€” with tougher penalties when weapons, injury or public emergencies are involved.

It's time for action. โœ‰๏ธ Click the link to contact your representatives and senators and urge them to support H.R. 3178/S. 1600, which would provide more options to the federal government to combat violence against emergency nurses. https://bit.ly/3WgokQB

Bob Pettus had a profound impact as an inspiration to many Fire, EMS, First Responders, and Emergency staff members across Arkansas and has spoken at our own Arkansas ENA Conferences. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Pettus family during this difficult time.

This Independence Day, we say a special thanks to the nurses working through the holiday and every day to keep their communities safe. Nurses across the country are on the frontlines treating injuries, including burns caused by fireworks and other accidents. American Nurses Enterprise wishes you a very happy Fourth of July and reminds you to please celebrate safely.

๐Ÿšจ The Senate has passed H.R.1, AKA "One Big Beautiful Bill", if signed into law the bill would devastate access to care for millions of Americans and place even more strain on nurses.

โ€œPatients and nurses deserve better,โ€ said ANA President Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN. "Medicaid is not just a budget lineโ€”itโ€™s a lifeline. It supports older adults in nursing homes, children with complex needs, and working families. It also funds the very healthcare facilities where nurses work."

Cuts to Medicaid mean:
- Hospital and clinic closures, especially in rural and underserved communities
- Increased nurse burnout and attrition
- Worse patient outcomes nationwide

This is an important reminder that voters care deeply about health care, and they are paying attention. Constituents, especially nurses and their patients, are relying on our elected officials to do the right thing and to protect Medicaid.
