🌍 Human Rights Day 🤝💙

Today on Human Rights Day, we honor the truth that dignity, safety, and belonging are universal rights — not privileges. For many, especially those living at the intersections of marginalized identities, these rights are still fought for daily.
We stand firmly with survivors, with LGBTQ+ communities, with BIPOC individuals, and with all people whose humanity has been ignored, questioned, or harmed by systems of oppression. Your identity, your story, and your healing matter.

As a trauma-focused, LGBTQ-allied, and culturally responsive practice, we reaffirm our commitment to:

✨ Providing affirming, identity-centered mental health care
✨ Supporting and uplifting BIPOC clients whose resilience is often demanded, not acknowledged
✨ Protecting safe, inclusive therapeutic spaces for all bodies, genders, cultures, and lived experiences
✨ Centering survivor autonomy, agency, and voice
✨ Challenging racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and all forms of systemic harm
✨ Advocating for a world where safety, identity, and self-expression are respected — never debated

Healing is a human right.
Safety is a human right.
Cultural identity is a human right.
Authenticity is a human right.
Love is a human right.

Today and every day, we walk alongside you — honoring your truth, protecting your dignity, and supporting your healing journey with compassion and respect. 💛🏳️‍🌈✊🏽

Pop culture helps us understand the world around us. Here's a new blog about how 90's HipHop helped create the HST of today. Take away: adversity can be an opportunity.

This is a follow up to the original EMDR phase 2, working with dissociative systems. It doesn't have to be 100% percent or even close to perfect communication to still, "go with that."

Transgender Day of Remembrance
Today, we pause to honor the lives of transgender and gender-diverse people who have been lost to anti-trans violence. This day is both a memorial and a call to collective compassion. In 2025, as trans communities continue to face rising hostility, discrimination, and barriers to safety, we believe it is more important than ever to affirm dignity, humanity, and the right to live authentically.

We stand with our trans clients, colleagues, and community members. We recognize the courage it takes to exist in a world that too often misunderstands or harms transgender individuals. We commit to providing trauma-informed, gender-affirming care that honors each person’s lived experience, identity, and safety.

To all trans and gender-diverse people:
You deserve safety.
You deserve joy.
You deserve to be here.

Today, we remember. And every day, we continue the work of creating a world where remembrance is no longer necessary.

🌍 International Day of Tolerance 2025 🌍
Today, we pause to honor the International Day of Tolerance—a moment to acknowledge both the pain and the possibility present in our world. In 2025, global tensions, grief, and uncertainty continue to shape our shared human experience. Many in our communities are feeling the emotional impact of conflict, polarization, and rapid change.

We believe tolerance is not passive acceptance—it is an active commitment to empathy, dialogue, and the healing power of relationship. It means holding space for differences, honoring lived experiences, and recognizing the inherent worth of every individual, even when understanding feels difficult.

🩵 Tolerance begins within—in the small, everyday choices each of us makes to slow down, listen, repair, and reconnect.
🩵 Tolerance expands outward—to families, communities, and across cultures.
🩵 Tolerance nurtures healing—both personal and collective.

Today, we invite you to join us in practicing compassion in conversation, curiosity in conflict, and gentleness with yourself and others. Healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens together.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.
We know that suicidal thoughts often grow out of deep pain, trauma, and feelings of isolation. We also know that healing is possible, connection matters, and no one has to carry their struggles alone.

This year’s theme, “Creating Hope Through Action,” reminds us that every small step — reaching out to a friend, checking in with a loved one, or seeking support from a professional — can make a difference.

If you are struggling, please know: your life matters, your story matters, and you are not alone. 🩵

📞 If you or someone you love is in crisis, dial 988 (Su***de & Crisis Lifeline) for immediate support.

Together, we can build a world where hope feels possible. 🌱

Today is International Day of Charity! To honor the day, we ask you to donate to An Infinite Mind! This organization is near and dear to us and an international, grass-roots 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and providing support for people with trauma-based dissociation, with a special focus on Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). The organization was founded in 2010 by Jaime Pollack, a survivor of childhood trauma and DID. This organization has helped so many individuals with DID, OSDD, family and supporters of folks with lived experience. It's International Day of Charity... if you resonate with any of this, donate here: https://www.aninfinitemind.org/

Six years ago, we opened our doors with a dream: to create a soft place to land for folks living with dissociative experiences and complex trauma.

We knew then—just like we know now—that healing is deeply personal, often messy, and always brave.

From our first client here in North Carolina to now holding space for individuals in Florida as well, this journey has been about showing up—with presence, with compassion, and with a deep belief in the resilience of the human spirit.

💙To every client who’s trusted us: your courage moves us daily.
💙 To our team: your heart and commitment make this work possible.
💙 To our community: thank you for holding us, supporting us, and helping us grow.

Six years in, and we’re still here—grateful, grounded, and growing. Here’s to the next chapter together.

With care,
The Healing Selves Therapeutics Team
