As a podiatrist mom, here are five things I never allow my kids to do:

1. Play sports in worn-down sneakers - you won’t believe how many injuries we see due to the worn-down footwear👟
2. Share shoes with friends - perfect way to spread fungus and warts 🦠
3. Stay in wet socks all day - moisture + warmth = bacteria heaven🧦 and it smells yucky 🤢
4. Wear super flat shoes - there is nothing wrong with super flat shoes for a short time, but all day running is not a great idea.
5. Wear shoes that are “a little too small” - blisters, ingrown toenails as an immediate effect and possible long-term hammertoe and bunion deformities 😣
