Guru Day – A Sacred Offering of Gratitude

Thursdays are celebrated, honoring the sacred presence of the Guru — the remover of darkness and the awakener of light within the heart.

Guru Day is a time to pause in gratitude for the lineage, the teachings, and the grace that guide our spiritual path. Through devotion, mantra, and service, the Guru’s blessings flow, helping us dissolve old karma and step more fully into our true nature.

At Felton Baba Temple, we bow in reverence to the living current of wisdom that connects us all. May we recommit to our practice, strengthen our inner silence, and carry the light of the Guru into the world.

With gratitude and love. 🙏

🔥 Shiva as Bhairava 🔥

As we approach Shivaratri, Shiva appears not only as the silent yogi—but as Bhairava, the fierce guardian of truth.

Bhairava is the form that cuts through illusion. He removes what we cling to. He exposes the fears we hide from.

But Bhairava is not anger.
He is protection.

His intensity is compassion in action—burning away what blocks awakening.

In the days before Shivaratri, notice what is being shaken loose in your life. Old patterns. Old fears. Old identities.

This is Bhairava clearing the path.

Do not resist.
Stand steady.
Chant.
Let the fire purify.

By Shivaratri night, what remains is clarity.

Shiva as the Yogi

Long ago, the sages asked why Shiva sits alone in the mountains, wrapped in silence while the world moves below.

They were told:
Shiva sits not to escape the world—but to hold it in stillness.

As the great Yogi, He teaches without speaking.
His meditation is so deep that even the winds soften around Him.
The river slows. The mind becomes quiet.

It is said that on Shivaratri, Shiva’s meditation becomes especially powerful. Those who turn inward on this night can feel that same stillness awakening within themselves.

Shiva as the Yogi reminds us:
You do not need to climb the Himalayas to find Him.
Close your eyes. Sit. Breathe.
The mountain is already inside you.

The Form of Shiva: Nataraja

As we move toward Shivaratri, Shiva appears as Nataraja, the cosmic dancer. His dance is the rhythm of creation and dissolution—birth and release, movement and rest.

Nataraja reminds us that nothing in life is meant to stay fixed. What falls away is not loss; it is part of the sacred dance.

As Shivaratri approaches, allow the dance to soften.
Let movement return to stillness. In that stillness, Shiva is revealed.

Preparing for Shivaratri
February 15th-16th

“If you seek Me, I shall give you strength. If you look to Me, I shall give you peace. If you surrender to Me, I shall take care of you always.”
— Shirdi Sai Baba

Shivaratri is the night of surrender into silence.
It is not about asking for more, but about letting go—of fear, effort, and the need to control. When we soften the heart and turn inward, Shiva responds naturally.

This sacred night reminds us that peace is not achieved through force, but through trust. As Sai Baba taught, when surrender is sincere, grace takes care of the rest.

May this Shivaratri draw you closer to stillness, strength, and quiet joy.

“In the silence of the mind, the soul speaks.”
~Gautama Buddha

Silence is not emptiness it is fullness. When the mind becomes quiet, we rest in our true nature.

From this inner stillness, peace flows effortlessly, wisdom arises without force, and the heart remembers its natural harmony.

Inner peace is not found outside of us. It is revealed when we stop listening to noise and allow silence to guide us home. 🕊️
