☀️Good morning! It’s sunny and above freezing! 🥶
Get outside and get some sunlight on your face!

Morning sunlight is one of the simplest brain hacks I recommend to patients with ADHD and seasonal depression.

Bright light early in the day strengthens dopamine signaling (attention, motivation, executive function) and stabilizes your circadian rhythm.

✅For ADHD brains, that means better alertness and regulation.
✅For seasonal affective symptoms, it helps correct the light-driven serotonin and melatonin shifts that contribute to low mood, fatigue, and brain fog.

😎5–10 minutes outside shortly after waking is enough to send a powerful “start the day” signal to your nervous system. No sunglasses needed, Free, evidence-based, and underrated. ☀️

🎃👻 Halloween & Mental Health: A Spooky Season Reminder! 👻🎃

As the days get shorter and darker, many people notice lower energy, sadness, or irritability, signs of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). You’re not imagining it, our brains really do react to less sunlight!

💊 Medication like Wellbutrin can sometimes help boost mood, focus, and motivation during this time.

💊 Helpful supplements:
• Vitamin D: especially if you’re not getting much sun
• Omega-3 fatty acids: may help reduce depression symptoms
• B-complex vitamins: support energy and brain health
• Magnesium: can calm the nervous system and aid sleep

If you’ve noticed these symptoms creeping in, it may be a good time to check in with your provider and talk about your options.

There are many effective non-medication options, too:
✨ Light therapy: using a special lamp that mimics natural sunlight
🏃‍♀️ Movement: daily walks or exercise, even short ones, can boost serotonin
🧠 Therapy: especially CBT, to reframe negative thoughts and patterns
🥗 Nutrition: steady meals, less sugar, and plenty of protein can stabilize energy
🌤️ Routine & sunlight: open the blinds early, spend time outdoors when possible
💤 Sleep hygiene: consistent bedtime and wake-up times help regulate mood

🍬 Enjoy your Halloween candy (we all deserve a treat!), but keep in mind too much sugar can cause energy spikes and crashes, and make mood swings feel worse.

Let’s make this spooky season about balance, not burnout. Be kind to yourself, reach out for help when you need it, and remember, even ghosts need a little light sometimes. 🧡
