Last week, our Lead Prevention Educator, Christy Harter, visited Westwood Elementary School in Portland to teach the Kids Have Rights program to third and fourth graders! Thank you, Westwood students and staff, for inviting Christy to teach your students about body safety. ❤

The Kids Have Rights program educates and empowers students, school staff, parents, and caregivers to recognize, prevent, and stop child sexual abuse. The program teaches body safety education to elementary-age students through interactive, engaging classroom lessons. Students are taught how to recognize touches and situations that are, or may be, unsafe, and provided with the language and support to seek help from a Safe Adult when needed.

There's still time to participate in the IM SAFE CAC's Youth Advocacy Council (YAC) Denim Day fundraiser on February 18, 2026! The Denim Day fundraiser will help financially support their service project: a "What I Was Wearing" Exhibit in local high schools. The display features stories and outfits that prove a person's clothing is never a factor in sexual abuse, physical abuse, or human trafficking.

We need your help to bring this impactful message to local schools!

🗓️ How to Participate:

▪When: Wednesday, February 18, 2026
▪The Action: Wear your favorite denim!
▪The Donation: Just $5 to participate. Check out the flyer below for all the ways you can donate!

🌟 Why Your $5 Matters:

▪Funding the Mission: Your donation helps us build and transport the exhibit to schools across both counties.

▪Spreading Awareness: Every person wearing denim becomes a conversation starter for sexual assault and child abuse prevention.

▪Supporting the CAC: You help us ensure that child survivors in our community have access to the care and advocacy they deserve.

Join us in the fashionable cause! Sign up to participate by clicking on this form!: https://forms.gle/dxnTrM5pRYnCnaa28. Questions? Email charter@imsafecac.org.

The IM SAFE CAC's Youth Advocacy Council (YAC) would like to extend a huge thank you to the IM SAFE CAC’s newest Board Members for taking the time to listen to them practice their service project presentation last night!

YAC members are preparing for an upcoming presentation competition, where they have the chance to win funding to support their service project. The opportunity to rehearse in front of such a supportive audience meant so much. The thoughtful feedback, encouragement, and questions from our board members helped them feel more confident and prepared.

We’re so grateful to our board members who invest their time in empowering our youth and helping them shine. Thank you to our new board members: Amy Logel, Courtney MacDonald, Carly Wormmeester, Rus Ambrose, and Wendy Shaw! 💙
