MARIONETTE FOLDS- Dr. Hal London
Marionette folds are the folds that form at the mouth corners and extend inferiolaterally to the chin. The are very common in patients over age 50 and I treat them everyday. They make you look sad or angry when you are not and significantly add age to your facial appearance. Most everyone hates them and wants them gone.
Doctor notes: Deep marionettes can actually become a medical issue. They can get so deep that saliva collects, creating a constant moist environment loved by yeast. A red, irritated rash forms that Iβll need to treat with prescription antifungal cream.
Treating the marionettes
My favorite technique starts from above and lifts the soft tissues using a robust filler. I then fill the mouth corners and marionettes.
I might add toxin to prevent the downward pull at the mouth corners and some in the chin so the marionettes donβt flash with expression.
This area bruises more than other areas of the face and holding good pressure for a minute after each injection is my best defense. I sanitize my patients hands and employ them to hold gauze while I move to fill another area. This keeps my patients distracted( pain control) and speeds up the process. I work fast.
