We, at K&K, are not nay-sayers, of Artificial Intelligence. We believe implementation by Home Health agencies should be a very cautious. Primary emphasis should always be compliance above all. There is currently no AI available that replaces human oversight of OASIS E1 documentation or coding.

Good providers need to take an active role in combating fraud and misuse in Home Health and Hospice. CMS needs to listen.

Home Health patients should receive care "without regard to whether the illness or injury is acute, chronic, terminal or expected over a long period of time, should be considered in deciding whether skilled services are needed." This is in Chapter 7 and Maintenance Therapy and Nursing is not an optional benefit for Home Health agencies to provide. If you do not provide it - you have to transfer a patient to an agency that does.

You must disclose if you don't provide maintenance services for therapy and skilled nursing in Home Health.

Great news - Government shutdown is over but there are limits on how Hospice is allowed to use telehealth. A victory for post- acute providers, including Home Health. Telehealth Face to Face is allowed again, until 12/31/27. Still work to do to make it permanent!

This is a victory for telehealth and Hospital at Home however, there are limitations on Hospice telehealth.
