WHAT IS HAWAIIAN LOMI MASSAGE
What is HAWAIIAN LOMI MASSAGE ? If you think of massage as a powerful form of healing, then Lomi must be considered one of the most profound forms of massage.
Where Lomi differs from traditional Swedish massage is simple. Lomi works the whole body and not just the individual parts. Lomi looks at the body not just as a group of muscles, but rather as a complete soul, allowing healing to take place at various levels.
With Swedish massage the therapist works in a very traditional and sequential way. Working the back, legs, and arms one area at a time. Lomi works in a very non–sequential way. Lomi is long flowing strokes that work the body as a whole. It is a beautiful dance that allows you to be totally present for your clients and for them to relax and accept a special experience.
The therapist does not know where they are going next. You trust your intuition. You trust your hands, and you will work “in this moment” being totally present for your client
This kind of spontaneous flow is designed to clear the client’s mind and allows them to relax and receive the work. As important as the physical act of massage is during the session, the presence that you offer and the care you are showing them will turn a basic massage into a new experience.
You are offering a special experience; your client is receiving special experience.
Hawaiians think of the body as being a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual whole. When healing takes place on one level, then healing will take place on all levels.
