Let us not forget on this Earth Day that we are in the situation we are in– a global climate crisis where we need to be reminded as a society that our Mother Earth matters– because of colonialism and capitalism, both of which have forced a devastating, mass disconnection from the sacred balance of all life, while perpetrating the ongoing genocide of Indigenous Peoples and the theft of Indigenous lands worldwide.

Indigenous Peoples today protect 80% of the world’s remaining biodiversity– not corporations, not organizations, and not colonial governments. Putting Indigenous land BACK into Indigenous lands only means a better world for all people and Mother Earth.

Today, we lift up the commitment and love of Indigenous Peoples throughout the world who have been honoring and protecting the land, water, and all life since the beginning of time.

To our non-Indigenous allies, as you acknowledge our Mother Earth, as you imagine a healthy future for our planet, ask yourself, ask your local municipalities, your universities, your churches, your parents, grandparents, and every person in your circle of influence: “But are you giving Land Back?”
