Sullivan County is under a Winter Storm Warning, running from 6 p.m. today to 7 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday). Forecasters are calling for 6-10 inches of snow to blanket us in that time, sometimes falling heavily. Rather than the usual north-south divide, however, totals will be less in the western parts of the County (around 6 inches) and higher in the eastern portions (8-10 inches). Regardless, this will be significant snowfall, so budget plenty of extra time if you have to be out and about tonight and tomorrow.

We need your HELP! Click the link below, to send a letter to legislators, advocating for the care coordination budget not to be cut. Cutting the budget in the current proposal will leave 700,000 New Yorkers without services they desperately need. We have had a huge increase in mental health symptoms, substance abuse, domestic violence, and su***de attempts. Under the new budget proposal, Mental Health Association in Orange County, Inc. would be asked to serve these members for a minimal amount of time (9 months- year) and then discharge them dispite their ongoing health concerns and struggles.

The Wind Chill Advisory begins at 5 p.m. today and lasts until noon tomorrow (Saturday), but below-zero wind chills and single-digit ambient temps will persist into next week. If you need warmth or shelter, remember that Sullivan County Warming Centers are open every night, from 8 p.m.-8 a.m., at the United Methodist Church on North Main Street in Liberty and the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center on Jefferson Street in Monticello.
