Fear-based prevention messages might grab attention—but they don’t change behavior. Programs that rely on scare tactics or one-time assemblies show no long-term effect on substance use and may even reduce trust between students and adults. Real prevention empowers young people with skills, support, and follow-up—not fear.

We support approaches that strengthen—not shame—our youth. Let's go beyond ""Just Say No"" and provide prevention education that inspires and teaches decision-making skills that have the greatest long-term impact.

Prevention works best when it empowers young people with real-life skills—not scare tactics. The most effective youth programs focus on coping, decision-making, and confidence-building, supported by trained facilitators and ongoing engagement.

At StepOne Service, we believe knowledge is powerful—but skills and connection are what make prevention last. 💙
