Food is medicine. “But I can’t eat healthy. I love food too much.” No the truth is, we’re addicted to the chemicals in our favorite foods. I had peanut butter cinnamon raisin swirl sourdough toast for breakfast with chocolate chips. And guess what…! It’s healthy!! Plenty of protein, complex carbohydrates, and only 143 calories. Try swapping out the things you normally eat for another brand with less ingredients and more natural ingredients or making it yourself. Chemicals are not food! Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to eat lettuce for the rest of your life. There are always healthier ways to eat the foods we love. The bread was homemade and I’ll post the peanut butter and chocolate chips in the comments.

We talked in a previous post the difference between a syrup and a tincture. I’ll be honest, this is my first year of treating my seasonal illnesses with only all natural remedies, and let me say, I am shocked by how well I feel. While syrups are certainly more palatable, a tincture is a way to deliver the therapeutic benefits of an herb or plant in a highly concentrated and more absorbable form and it is shelf stable for up to 5 years, whereas a syrup only lasts about 3 months. With the elderberry syrup you need a tablespoon or more of it every day, but with a tincture, one or two droppers full is enough. Just put it under your tongue or mix in some water.
