A run down memory lane. My father Kenneth Berman came to Findlay in 1975. At the time the hospital was growing and some talented orthopedic surgeons came to offer orthopedic care to the local community. My father saw the opportunity to offer Prosthetic care locally as well. This was a news article in the courier from 1975. I have not seen this news clipping prior to recently when I was going through medical textbooks and came across this. Thought this was a great opportunity to memorialize the beginning of the Prosthetic care we have successfully been offering to the local community for the last  50 years.

Part of the profession of prosthetics and orthotics is listening and working with fellow healthcare professionals. We are a resource in healthcare providers bag of tools.  We feel flattered this Physical Therapist took the time to post kind words about our facility.

Bilateral below knee amputee from a grain elevator accident that was not his fault that left him with both legs being amputated 15 years ago. He’s 79 years old and still puts in 40+ hours of work per week. His last pair of prosthetics served him well, but after five years of use, today he got his new revamped, better fitting, better looking, improved technology prosthetics. He thinks he can work 80 hours a week now :)

With Father’s Day a few days ago, I found this fitting. Shelly is a below knee amputee that lost her father on Father’s Day some years back from throat cancer.  The inspiration of her socket design and moving forward from limb loss is inspired from her father’s battle with throat cancer.

This individual sustained a complete fracture of his radius & ulna requiring surgical repair. Postoperatively I took a cast of his arm & custom fabricated this Muenster splint within a day. This is a perfect fit & he’ll use this during his healing.

I missspoke one word in the video, but what he uses as his knee joint is actually his foot turned around backwards.

Today’s upper extremity prosthetic patient had a work injury. This is common with upper extremity type amputations and she gave permission to post this picture of her unique design, which is her love for outdoors and wildlife.

Mr. Ramos gave us permission to post this video. This is his first day being fit with his prosthetic.  He did very well and his wife and him are looking forward to dancing together after a long two years.

A diehard Raiders fan wanted to express his enthusiasm about his favorite team. Even though the Raiders did not make the big dance I found this fitting today being the Super Bowl is on Sunday!
