Exciting News Continues!
When I announced this past week that I was relaunching my private practice, most of you assumed I’d be doing counseling and … you’re right! AND there will be a number of announcements yet to follow.
I thought I’d take a moment to share the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions I’ve gotten on the beginning of this journey.
Why Virtual Appointments Only?
In the last 5 years, virtual health has expanded and become a regular part of our lexicon in the behavioral health field. While there are a lot of benefits for me as a provider (less overhead, flexibility, etc.) there are a lot of benefits for clients too! In the past a client would have to take 2 hours out of their work day to come meet with me when you figure travel time to and from my office, plus the time we spend together. Now, they can schedule me in for any hour that works in their schedule where they can be in a secure and confidential environment.
Also, as we continue to move toward fully implementing the Counseling Compact, I look forward to serving individuals outside of Ohio as well.
What are “third-wave therapies” anyway?
When I talk about my therapeutic models, I mention that I use third-wave therapies. I can (and have) talk and teach on these models ad nauseum. If I distill the common threads down, these therapies take a balanced approach that recognizes our need to accept reality as it is and to work to change it. Therapy with me balances a desire to look at what has led us here, with a heavy emphasis on where do we want to go and how do we get there. For example, how can you live a life worth living EVEN WHEN depression shows up? All mental health symptoms are rooted in the human experience, which I can’t change, and I can ABSOLUTELY help clients navigate it in a way that feels meaningful and even joyful to them.
Do you take insurance?
I’m currently working through the credentialing process. The good news is I’m already able to accept Aetna, Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Carelon. I’ll continue to update you on this. In the meantime, I have private pay with sliding fee scales as well. I am able to provide you with a superbill that you can submit for reimbursement on your own until if/when I’m paneled with your current provider.
