I want to give Superman another shoutout!
Years ago he had a dream of becoming a certified Olympic Weightlifting coach and he did the work to make it happen by earning his USAW Olympic Weightlifting Certification. What inspires me most is how intentional his journey has been. He didn’t rush it. He approached it carefully and methodically, building the strength, knowledge, and experience step by step.
People sometimes think Olympic lifting is just about lifting heavy weights, but becoming a certified coach through USA Weightlifting actually requires a deep understanding of movement, strength, power, and athlete development.
Matt has spent years learning and mastering things like:
• The technical mechanics of Olympic lifts like the sn**ch and clean & jerk
• How to analyze movement and correct technique safely
• How to coach athletes through complex barbell movements
• Strength and power development for speed, explosiveness, and performance
• Biomechanics and efficient bar path mechanics
• Programming and periodization for long-term athletic progress
• Injury prevention and safe training practices
• Recovery, fatigue management, and sustainable progress
• Coaching athletes of different ages, abilities, and sports backgrounds
• Competition rules and how to prepare athletes for meets
Olympic weightlifting has been such a powerful addition to his martial arts training. It’s helped make him stronger, faster, more powerful, and more agile. Earning and maintaining this certification takes much more than physical ability. It requires knowledge, patience, discipline, dedication, hard work, and courage.
Even though he achieved this certification years ago, Matt continues to renew it and keep growing. He’s always studying, learning, and sharpening his skills so he can be the best coach possible.
What I admire most is how he coaches. He blends science with passion and joy. He truly has the gift of teaching. He knows how to bring out the best in people and help them believe in what they’re capable of.
Just when I think he can’t get any better, he somehow keeps leveling up. I’m really proud of you, Matt (Superman). ❤️💪
