Justice Thomas Drops Hammer on Progressivism: Rights Come from God, Not Government

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas just delivered a powerful warning in Austin, Texas, and conservatives everywhere are standing up and cheering.

Speaking at the University of Texas to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas nailed the threat facing America today.

“Progressivism seeks to replace the basic premises of the Declaration of Independence, and hence our form of government,” he declared. “It holds that our rights and our dignities come not from God, but from government.”

He didn’t stop there. Thomas made it crystal clear what that shift really means for everyday Americans.

“It requires of the people a subservience and weakness incompatible with a constitution premised on the transcendent origin of our rights.”

That’s the raw truth. Our Founders built this nation on the idea that God endows us with unalienable rights. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness aren’t gifts from Washington bureaucrats or activist judges. They’re ours by divine right, and the Constitution exists to protect them from government overreach, not to hand power over to it.

Progressivism flips the script. It demands we bow to the state for our dignity, our worth, even our freedoms. That path leads straight to dependency, control, and a weak people who can’t stand on their own. It’s the opposite of the rugged independence and self-reliance that made America the freest, wealthiest, and most powerful nation in history.

Thomas urged courage in the face of growing cynicism and hostility toward our founding principles. He called on young people especially to reject the lies peddled in too many classrooms and push back against this radical replacement agenda.

In a time when the left wants to rewrite our history and remake our country, Justice Thomas remains a rock-solid defender of the Constitution and the timeless truths that built America.

You nailed it, Justice Thomas. This is why originalists like you belong on the Court. Keep speaking truth to power. 🇺🇸
