In one of our favorite recent moments at the Agrace Adult Day Center, activity director Heather (a very lively “mole”!) popped up for a round of whack-a-mole that had our clients bursting with laughter!

At the Agrace Adult Day Center, fun moments like this are part of the meaningful, engaging activities we offer every day to help slow the progression of dementia, support physical wellness and give our clients a strong sense of purpose.

For Ed, a lifelong Wisconsin Badgers fan living with Parkinson’s disease, the simple joy of watching sports has become a powerful source of comfort. As Parkinson’s slowly chips away at his independence, Ed finds solace in the energy of the game—especially when his beloved Badgers take the court.

Through a special partnership with UW Athletics and the Badgers Give Back program, Ed’s wish came true. We were honored to secure three tickets for Ed and his family to attend the UW Men’s Basketball game against Northern Illinois University.

Before tip-off, Ed had the chance to gather near the team prior to the game. As the players ran out onto the court, the excitement in the arena was electric, but the joy on Ed’s face was even brighter.

His daughter later shared, “Ed had a truly memorable experience on Friday and we can't thank you enough for setting it up. Gabby and I were so happy to share the evening with him.”

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. For Ed and his family, this night was a slam dunk of joy, and we’re grateful to have played a small part in it.

This Giving Tuesday, your gift can make twice the impact for Agrace patients and families.

Gayle, an 82-year-old Agrace patient, has been a lifelong Milwaukee Brewers fan—but she had never been to a game in person. In July, Gayle’s Agrace care team applied for a very special wish through our donor-funded Wish program. With support from donors, Gayle attended her very first Brewers game with her three adult children and two grandsons. They cheered, laughed and created memories that will last a lifetime.

She came home with a jersey, two bobbleheads, a blanket, and a certificate—treasured reminders of a day she calls “one of the best of my life.” Gayle’s nurse said, “She said she was still on cloud nine the day after the game. Everything went so well, and she couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

Stories like Gayle’s show how the combination of compassionate care and community support brings joy, comfort and connection to our patients and their families every day.

Making a Thanksgiving meal is hard work—even more so when someone in the family is in hospice care. Each year, Agrace provides hundreds of Thanksgiving meals to patients and families who request them, helping make the holiday a little easier. Thanks to our donor-supported Discretionary Fund and the skills of our kitchen team, these meals are prepared and delivered to those who need them.

A huge thank you to the Agrace staff who prepared and delivered these holiday meals, helping patients and families enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving with as little stress as possible! 🦃

Introducing Elizabeth Dittrich, a dedicated hospice nurse on our La Crosse-based team.

Elizabeth brings nearly two decades of nursing experience to Agrace, including four years as a hospice case manager with Mayo Clinic. She is known for her steady presence, strong clinical skill and the way she supports patients and families with clarity and compassion during end-of-life care.

Her background spans hospital nursing roles across multiple states, as well as experience at Gundersen and Aspirus, giving her a broad perspective on patient needs and care transitions.

We’re grateful to have Elizabeth’s experience, compassion and commitment on our team!
