Dorminy Medical Center Dorminy Medical Center has long been a pillar of medical support in Fitzgerald and its surrounding communities. Dorminy Medical Center has a lot to be proud.

Residents have relied upon this mainstay for up to date, friendly medical treatment for over 40 years. Dorminy has seen many changes during its time; most recently the largest change has been ERH (a Utah based management company that specializes in working with small to medium size acute care hospitals that are distresses or underperforming) assuming the management responsibilities in July, 2014. After ERH began its work with DMC, 10 healthcare providers were added in one months’ time. CEO Mel Pyne states “During this past year, Dorminy Medical Center has successfully recruited many new physicians to town. The medical practices of these physicians have created new jobs, fueled the growth of the hospital, and provided new options for medical care for the community." Illustrating DMC’s growth are the 52 hired employees since August, maintaining Dorminy Medical Center's status as one of Ben Hill’s largest employers. They have reemerged as a strong player in Fitzgerald and the communities it serves. Dorminy provides numerous amenities that are convenient and when seconds matter, having such a capable facility close by can mean saving a life. The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day and fully staffed. The Swing Bed Unit provides treatment and attention for patients that are in the transitional stage of care between full time and independence. The 3rd floor Geri-Psych Unit renovation is currently underway.

𝓓𝓸𝓻𝓶𝓲𝓷𝔂 𝓜𝓮𝓭𝓲𝓬𝓪𝓵 𝓒𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓡𝓮𝓬𝓮𝓲𝓿𝓮𝓼 $125,000 𝓖𝓻𝓪𝓷𝓽 𝓽𝓸 𝓔𝔁𝓹𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓐𝓭𝓿𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓭 𝓤𝓵𝓽𝓻𝓪𝓼𝓸𝓾𝓷𝓭 𝓢𝓮𝓻𝓿𝓲𝓬𝓮𝓼

Dorminy Medical Center has received a $125,000 grant from the Rural Prosperity and Innovation Center to enhance diagnostic services through the addition of advanced ultrasound technology, strengthening access to high-quality healthcare for our community.

This investment will allow Dorminy Medical Center to provide faster and more accurate diagnoses, improve patient outcomes, and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the region for essential imaging services. By keeping care local, Dorminy Medical Center continues its mission to deliver timely, high-quality healthcare without placing additional financial burden on patients or taxpayers.

“This grant is a meaningful investment in the health of our community,” said Paige Wynn, CEO. “Adding advanced ultrasound capability enables us to diagnose conditions more quickly, improve care coordination, and ensure patients can receive the services they need close to home.”

Rural communities often face barriers to accessing specialized diagnostic services. The new ultrasound equipment will support timely diagnosis across multiple clinical areas, helping providers deliver efficient, patient-centered care while reinforcing the hospital’s role as a trusted healthcare provider in the region.

Investments like this not only enhance healthcare delivery but also contribute to the long-term vitality of rural communities by supporting local infrastructure and improving quality of life.
