Alumni Highlight! Lauren Donnelly is a former graduate of our MSAT Program and a Nesbitt Scholarship Winner! Lauren has been an integral member of the Athletic Trainers who have been providing Tactical Athletic Healthcare to the Flagstaff Fire Academy Recruits here in Flagstaff!

Hi, I’m Lauren Donnelly, I’m a graduate of Northern Arizona University, where I completed both my bachelor’s degree in Fitness Wellness and my master’s in Athletic Training through the accelerated program in 2025. In 2024, I was honored to receive the Michael Nesbitt Scholarship.

I just started as the Certified Athletic Trainer for NAU Women’s Soccer and could not be more excited to join NAU full time and to support the health and performance of our student-athletes! My athletic training approach focuses on empowering athletes to actively participate in their recovery through education and tailored exercise programs to safely guide athletes back to their sport stronger and more confident.

Outside of work, I love listening to music, spending time with friends, and going to hot yoga classes!

Hi, I’m Sara Chatham-Carey. I earned my B.S. in Exercise Science and my Master’s in Athletic Training from Northern Arizona University.

I’m currently an Athletic Trainer at The Physio Shop in Flagstaff, AZ, where I focus on giving patients functional exercises that translate into their daily lives. I truly believe movement is medicine and rehab should not be pulled from a recipe book. Every exercise has the power the heal, build strength and keep us doing the things we love. I treat every patient like an athlete because whether you’re chasing your kids, hiking, or competeing, you’re training for something that matters.

When I’m not in the clinic, you can find me running with my pup Otis, traveling with my husband in search of the best food in new places, or skiing down mountains in the winter.

Final wrap up for the summer 2025 “semester!” Both cohorts from the CO 2027 spent time on each campus for combined cohort lab days in AT 500.

The students practiced cold water immersion and TACO cooling on the PBC, and then gained experience working with the ASU Hockey ATC and some ASU EMTs. The students practiced their skills in spine boarding and wound care principles at Mullett Arena.
