Look at the sweet client I got to see yesterday! Archie is a beloved pet and companion who I first met 8-9 mos ago. His owner brought him in with great concern after 2 days of hind leg paralysis, no eating or sleeping. Archie responded well to the work and later that day I received this video of him walking again!

Archie had another stint of paralysis recently (unfortunately it is a common condition with this breed), so he came back in for more work. I am so happy to be able to help Archie continue to be his playful, loving self - keeping those hind legs working for as long as possible.

Course description:
- Intra-osseous restrictions via embryologic, traumatic and stress lines of force of lower extremities
- Fibula spirals will be explored inter- and intra-osseously in dynamic energy storage and shock absorption in the walk cycle
- The concept of lemniscate in relation to walking cycle mechanics and treatment
- Lauren Berry’s concept of tissue misplacement and how it relates to Ida Rolf’s statement of, “Put it in place and call for movement”
- A detailed look at Knee/Ankle/Fibula mechanics
- Interosseous membrane details
- Meniscus treatment

This class is essential to understanding the details of the joints in the lower extremity. You will become proficient at seeing and feeling the different compensation patterns in the walking cycle, and grow more adept at treating these as well as restoring normal biomechanics. Ron does a great job of weaving his knowledge of embryology into each class, helping students to see how different approaches overlap, and teaching students to assess and treat at the micro and macro levels.

If you're a client of mine, you know that for the last 20 years I've guided 15 day expeditions in Grand Canyon. While these trips are incredibly fun, they are also very physically demanding. Thanks to the craftsmanship of my friend/client West Howland, this is the first season that I've had the pleasure of rowing a 2000lb oar boat with a set of light, ergonomic, custom oars. These beauties are made of Sassafrass and Canarywood, are likely half of the weight of my other oars and have all kinds custom touches that make them a joy to row. I'm certain they've added years to my guiding career!

We just finished a pelvis workshop with Ron Murray (osteoron.com) in Flagstaff, AZ and it was everything we hoped it could be! I'm grateful for the skilled practitioners that convened and the learning environment that Ron facilitated. His teaching was on point as usual - rich, practical, clear and fun! I am excited to announce that Ron Murray will be teaching a workshop this coming February on the PELVIS in Flagstaff. If you aren't already familiar with Ron, he's a manual Osteopath, Advanced Rolfer and Berry Method practitioner. He has distilled much of his expertise into a series of 4-day workshops. After completing one of these, I am inspired to bring Ron closer to home. His teaching is accessible, clear and brimming with practical information that is easy to assimilate and put into practice. His teaching has elevated my work in noticeable ways and I'm excited to bring his approach to other local practitioners.

PELVIS class description:
- The concept of Lemniscate, and how it relates to normal mechanics and treatment principles
- A detailed look at all five portions of both the long arm and short arm of sacro-ilial and ilio-sacral joint, and how to hydrate these�· Intra-osseous restrictions via embryologic, traumatic and stress lines of force
- Hip joint health and ligament/capsule hydration
- Why treatment of the pelvic floor is crucial to normal walking mechanics and cranio-sacral breathing
- The coccyx’s relation to head and neck problems, and why your “tail” should wag when you walk!

While Ron focuses on a deeper understanding of anatomical details and how principles of treatment can be used across the whole body, you will learn techniques that go along with all of these concepts. As you practice the techniques in your office, you will come to understand the principles at a deeper level, and will begin to understand the osteopathic paradigm of assessment and treatment of a human being.
