NACOG Aging

NACOG Aging Area Agency on Aging, Region III, serves people in the four Northern Counties of Arizona, excluding the reservations.

We are also an Aging and Disability Resource Consortium- www.azlinks.gov We are a part of a national network of organizations, established under the Older Americans Act of 1965 (OAA) to respond to the needs of Older Adults. There are more than 650 Area Agencies on Aging throughout the United States. All Area Agencies advocate, plan, coordinate, develop and deliver information and services for seniors 60 years and older, people with disabilities and for family caregivers. To meet its objectives, the Area Agency contracts with over 20 social service providers, health departments and nutrition sites to deliver services that assist the elderly, helping them to remain in their homes as long as possible. Nearly 400,000 hot meals are served to seniors in the region each year and more than 40,000 hours of in-home care are provided. Direct service through Area Agency staff is also available for legal advocacy, benefits counseling, through the ombudsman program, Information and Referral, and Case Management . Staff and volunteers regularly visit Northern Arizona communities for the purpose of training, educating and advocating on important senior issues, and meeting individually with senior clients. The Older Americans Act and Social Service Block Grants through the Social Security Act primarily fund the Area Agency on Aging (AAA). The Arizona Department of Economic Security, Aging and Adult Administration allocate funds on a regional basis, to the AAA. Fees are not charged for most of the services offered, however, client donations are encouraged and insure the stability and success of all programs offered through the AAA.

Prepare for an upcoming change in the weather this week!!❄️☺️

The recent dry and mild weather will continue through Thursday, with increasing clouds by mid week. A storm system is forecast to move across the state Friday into Saturday, bringing rain and high elevation snow at times. Though there is still uncertainty in rain/snow amounts and snow levels, the best chance for winter driving impacts currently looks like Friday evening into Saturday morning at elevations above 6000-7000 feet. Check back for updates through the week!
