Don is looking for a more active foot to keep up with his 5K runs and gym boot camps. So far, the reaction and feel of this new setup are exactly what he’s looking for.

"Quite a bit more action than the other foot," says Don. Next step: taking it home for a trial run.

After his stroke, Jeffery needed a solution for his foot drop. In this video he talks about his understanding of how the Tectus brace from will support him, and then he tests it out!

Jeffery noticed how it supported him when he needed it, making him feel more secure and giving him the sense of control and stability that’s essential for everyday life.

The Tectus brace allows for smooth, controlled movement, from sitting to standing. With its computer-assisted knee joint, it also stabilizes and protects, adapting to steps and reducing fall risks.

In addition to helping with foot drop, it addresses knee and ankle instability so that the patient is more stabile with better functional outcomes.

Bryan spent some time in our office recently doing something he hasn't been able to do much in years - move his legs.

We have been working with him, using a custom C-brace to improve his mobility after his MS diagnosis.

He has noticed:
• improved balance
• longer, more controlled steps
• more confidence when walking
• stability when standing

For someone who is used to sitting more than standing, simply being able to move - stretch, and bend - is important.

If you or a loved one is living with MS and struggling with walking, there are options worth exploring. Send us a message here or call us 201-943-3900

When they're looking in the mirror they're going to say - I am not alone."

That's what Jeana Sweeney from the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association wants every newly diagnosed CMT patient to feel.

At Prime Ortho we fit AFOs for people with CMT and we know that the brace is only part of the journey. Knowing where to turn, who to trust, and that others understand what you're going through matters just as much.

If you are someone with CMT or someone who treats CMT patients and are looking for a resource to share with them, the CMTA is exactly that resource.

03/18/2026

If you are an Orthotist that knows about CMT, The CMTA wants to know about you, says Jeana Sweeney from the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association.

If you're just getting started with CMT, the CMTA has resources to help you get there - educational content, national events, and the opportunity to connect with specialists and patients who can deepen your understanding of the condition.

Either way it starts with something as simple as keeping CMT brochures in your waiting room, because CMT is everywhere and it's not often diagnosed.

At Prime Ortho we are proud to be part of this community. We believe every CMT patient deserves a provider who is connected, educated, and invested in their community.

A doctor handed Jeana Sweeney a list of everything she couldn't do.

She was 14 years old.

She couldn't work. She couldn't have kids. She couldn't exercise. The list kept going.

She didn't listen.

Today Jeana is a mom, an advocate, and the Chief Engagement and Gift Officer at the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, showing up every single day for the three million people living with CMT.

At Prime Ortho one of our specializations is fitting AFOs for people with CMT and other neurological conditions in Northern New Jersey. We believe every patient deserves a provider who takes the time to truly understand their condition, not hand them a list of limits.

From a paragraph in a book to seven active clinical trials.

That is the distance Jeana Sweeney has watched the CMT world travel in her lifetime.

She was diagnosed at 14. Her youngest daughter was diagnosed at one month old. And every single day she shows up for the three million people living with CMT because the CMTA's work could change all of their lives.

This is what hope looks like in action.

What do people with CMT actually need from their orthotist?

Jeana Sweeney from the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association talks about the importance of orthotists understanding that every person with CMT has a unique experience.

- Their progression is different.
- Their goals are different.
- Their daily demands are different.

CMT is not a one size fits all condition and the care shouldn't be either.

At Prime Ortho here in Northern New Jersey, we treat every CMT patient as an individual.

"If that is what it's like living with CMT, I am going to be okay."
Those words came from a child sitting in a neurologist's office. Just diagnosed.

She remembered a woman who had visited her school and talked about living with CMT, she was happy and energetic.

That woman is Jeana Sweeney, Chief Engagenent and Gift Officer at the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association.

That young girl and her family are still involved with the CMTA today.

This is what awareness does.

We will be hearing more from Jeana this week!

Ken Cornell spent 40 years mastering orthotic care for CMT patients. When he retired he didn't stop. He built CMT Mobility Rescue so that knowledge could keep reaching people.

When patients tell him "you've changed my life, I never knew this was possible" - that's the mission working exactly as intended.

This is what it looks like when someone truly loves what they do.

This is the kind of care every CMT patient deserves access to.

Prime Ortho serves CMT patients in North Jersey with custom AFO fitting and specialized orthotic care.

We're proud to share voices like Ken's.

03/06/2026

When Ken Cornell looks back on 40 years of working with CMT patients, certain stories stand out.

One of his earliest patients owned a machine shop. CMT had stripped away his balance and his confidence - he couldn't even stand still in an open space without holding on to something.

His employees always knew he was coming. Clop, clop, clop down the floor.

With the right AFOs and proper gait training he got it all back. He came back to Ken and told him that they can't hear him coming anymore.

He felt like a ninja.🥷

That's what happens when CMT care is done right. Not just a device, but the right device, fitted precisely, with the training to use it. That's the standard Ken has held for 40 years. And it's the standard every CMT patient deserves.
