New brace or prosthetic? Here’s how to make it more comfortable.
Breaking in a new orthotic or prosthetic device can feel like a big transition, physically and emotionally.
If you’re feeling eager to “get back to normal”… we understand that more than you know.
But going slow in the beginning can make all the difference in comfort, skin health, and long-term success.
Here’s a simple break-in guideline to get you started:
• Day 1: Wear 1 hour → remove 1 hour (repeat 3x/day)
• Day 2: Wear 2 hours → remove 1 hour (repeat 3x/day)
• Add 1 hour each day until you're wearing it full-time.
Think of it like breaking in a new pair of shoes - your body needs time to adjust.
If you're dealing with foot drop, neuropathy, stroke recovery, Charcot-Marie-Tooth, or adjusting to a prosthesis, you’re not supposed to figure this alone. Your comfort matters.
We’ll guide you every step, from fit, to footwear, to follow-ups.
