Today, HOSA healthcare students presented at Davis and Sutton Elementary schools.
👉Health Education Team: Alexander (Xander) Dennison and Joslynn Napier 🦠🧼
👉Public Health Team: Emily Martin, Addison Moore, and Kamryn Smith 🥤🍬
For health education, Xander and Joslynn chose to create a lesson on infection control. They presented to 2nd grade with some fun demonstrations and activties to educate students about germ transmission and prevention strategies.
For public health education, the required topic was the negative health effects of soda and ultra-processed foods. Emily, Addison, and Kamryn presented their informational board to 4th and 5th grade students along with visuals of how much sugar is recommended for kids per day and how much sugar is in popular processed foods.
Thank you Davis and Sutton for your collaboration with HOSA! These presentations along with other requirements will be judged at the HOSA State Leadership Conference in March.

HOSA students delivered Christmas presents for their adopted resident today. A simple visit and giving back this holiday season reminded us how impactful kindness can be—for them and for us. BCHS CTE healthcare students recently covered the integumentary system. They completed a wound lab and also had guest speakers to provide more hands-on learning opportunities. Kelli Gregory and Tara Rexroad, both with home health, educated students on wound dressings, ostomy care, and wound vacs. Dr. Conrad with WVU Medicine also visited the classroom to give a lesson in suturing wounds. HOSA President Joslynn Napier said, “I enjoyed getting to learn how to do it but the best part was actually being able to have hands on practice with the skills and suturing.” Thank you Nurse Gregory, Home Health Educator Ms. Rexroad, and Dr. Conrad for taking the time to bring your expertise and knowledge into the classroom! Students participated in the Trunk-Or-Treat event at Braxton Healthcare Center today, distributing candy to residents, staff, and community members. Despite their busy schedules, our students consistently demonstrate a positive attitude. 💚💛

Braxton County HOSA is thankful for everyone’s participation in our escape room today!!! We, as a group, appreciate the enthusiasm of everyone who joined us for an unforgettable experience.

Our event continues… Students can still experience our graveyard and creepy clinic through 10/30 and 10/31.
