If you want a healthy marriage/relationship you need to learn how to ATTUNE to your spouse. That means...

A - awareness of the other person's emotions
T - turning toward (not away from) their emotions
T - tolerance for differing viewpoints
U - seek to understand their perspective
N - non-defensive listening and responding
E - empathy for their emotions and experience

As a husband and a marriage counselor I estimate I eat my own cooking about 85%-90% of the time. My wife agrees with my estimate. I have room to improve, but I've also come a long way in almost 20 years with my wife.

How would you rate your ability to ATTUNE?

The solution? - 💊 If and when you think about the event, remind yourself you chose to forgive this person because you want to live a healthier, more joyful life where you hold on to the best parts of who you are.

Good afternoon! :)

As I mentioned yesterday, I’m taking a small group of people through a 2-hour workshop THIS THURSDAY to teach them how to repair trust and resolve conflict in their marriage or relationship.

I’ve been getting some great questions about The Love Is Free, Trust Is Earned Workshop… so here are some answers:

❓Who is the workshop for?

✅This workshop is for any couple committed to making their marriage or relationship last a lifetime.

❓What does it involve exactly?

✅It's a 2-hour online class where I will teach you how to rebuild trust, resolve conflicts peacefully, understand and work with both solvable and difficult problems, get through gridlocked conflicts in your relationship, and use "Power Phrases" to get a conversation back on track

❓Who is this workshop NOT for?

✅This couples enrichment workshop is NOT a substitute for couples therapy. Couples experiencing abuse, untreated addiction, untreated severe mental illness, or fallout from a recent affair should consult with Jim Urban, LMHC or another licensed counselor about enrolling in couples therapy.

❓Can I attend alone?

✅Yes you can! By strengthening your boundaries and improving your communication you can be a force for positive change in your relationship. We often have participants join us whose spouse or partner is either unavailable for the workshop or aren't yet interested in working to improve the relationship.
