January is Blood Donor Recognition Month
Pelican Ski Shop Will Give HMC Blood Donors a Special Gift

There is a national shortage of blood and the Blood Bank at Hunterdon Medical Center is in critical need of blood donors in our community. Pelican Ski & Snowboard Shop in Whitehouse Station recognizes the importance of donating blood and would like to give a gift to individuals who donate blood at Hunterdon Medical Center during the month of January.

If an individual donates blood at Hunterdon Medical Center from January 1st to January 31st, he or she will receive a donation letter from the hospital to present to Pelican Ski & Snowboard Shop in Whitehouse Station. The blood donor can present the letter to Pelican and receive a free daily ski or snowboard rental ($39 value) for any day of the season.

To be eligible to donate blood a person must be at least 17 years of age, be in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. “We are looking for donors of all blood types,” stated Cathy Conroy, Blood Donor Recruiter at the Hunterdon Medical Center. Conroy said, “Our donors are all special people who give blood only to help others in need. It isn’t every day you can save someone’s life. Most of us can give this gift and keep giving it regularly.” All blood donations made at Hunterdon Medical Center are used for patients at the hospital.

To schedule an appointment to donate blood, call Hunterdon Medical Center’s Blood Donor Recruiter (Cathy Conroy) at 908–788–6405 or email her at cconroy@hhsnj.org.
