Let us all congratulate Alicia White, MS, CCC-SLP, CMT® on becoming a Certified Myofunctional Therapist® (CMT®)! Way to go, Alicia! We’re so proud of you! 🎉👏
Alicia White, MS, CCC-SLP, CMT® is a Speech-Language Pathologist in Western North Carolina and has been practicing since 2016. She is an ACE award recipient in having completed extensive continuation hours to advance her skillset when targeting cognition, language development, and feeding therapy in addition to myofunctional therapy training through the Myo Method and Orofacial Myology.
She is also certified in the SimonSays OMT program to assist in working with individuals with tongue/lip ties and other orofacial myofunctional disorders. After navigating feeding challenges with her own children, Alicia's clinical focus began to shift and sparked an interest in myofunctional therapy. That personal journey deepened her passion for supporting families through a more holistic, whole-individual approach.
Alicia currently owns and operates her private practice, Lifespan Therapy, where she enjoys working with a variety of clientele to incorporate skills from multiple facets to provide the best quality of care.
We are proud of you!🤩

🌟 October is AAC Awareness Month! 🌟

AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication—a variety of tools and strategies that support people who have difficulty with speech. This can include anything from picture boards and sign language to high-tech speech-generating devices.

AAC helps individuals find their voice, connect with others, and share their ideas. 💬❤️

This month, let’s celebrate the power of communication in all its forms and spread awareness about the importance of accessible communication for everyone.

✨ Every voice matters. Every way of communicating counts. ✨

🌀 What is Myofunctional Therapy? 🌀
It’s more than just tongue exercises!

Myofunctional therapy is a specialized approach that focuses on strengthening the muscles of the face, mouth, and tongue to improve breathing, speaking, eating, and even sleep.

đź‘„ Does your child:
– Breathe through their mouth often?
– Have trouble saying certain sounds?
– Struggle with chewing or swallowing?
– Still suck a thumb or pacifier past toddlerhood?

These may be signs of a myofunctional disorder—and that’s where we come in.

Our therapy targets the root cause by retraining the muscles to function the way they’re meant to.
It’s gentle, effective, and can make a lasting difference.

✨ Strong muscles = better function = thriving kids.

📩 Have questions? We’re happy to chat about how myofunctional therapy can support your child’s development.
