It's National Public Health Week! Let's highlight SLEEP APNEA one of the most common sleep disorders.
What? Sleep Apnea is a disorder where people temporarily stop breathing while sleeping
How? Blockage in throat caused by soft tissues and muscles that obstruct the airway and cause people get less oxygen while sleep and have problems breathing, usually for multiple seconds
Symptoms? Fatigue, daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, gasping for air at night, large tonsils are some of the most common signs and symptoms of sleep apnea.
Impact? Can worsen high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and can also cause fatigue, memory loss, and weight gain.
