Genesee Health Plan (GHP) is a nonprofit health care organization that provides basic health services to the uninsured residents of Genesee County. GHP takes a proactive approach to health care by providing preventive health care services including doctor visits, cancer screenings, prescription drugs, outpatient mental health services, dental care, labs and X-rays. GHP pays for doctor visits, prescriptions, lab tests, x-rays, outpatient mental health services, dental visits, and some outpatient procedures and surgeries. GHP is not insurance as we do not cover some services like hospitalization and emergency room visits. GHP is an independent health care organization and is not part of city, county, or state government. We provide quality health coverage for Genesee County residents over the age of 19 (and people over 65 who do not qualify for Medicare) who don’t have any other health coverage and meet our income requirements. This includes hard-working people-some who work two or three jobs- who don’t receive health care coverage from their employer or don’t qualify for other health coverage. Today is National Report Home Health Care Fraud Day. In home health care fraud schemes, no actual home health therapy is provided. The beneficiary is asked to sign forms that verify a nurse or therapist showed up at the home and provided services when they didn't.

Billing Medicare for services not provided is highly illegal and you should report this immediately if you are approached for this scam. Be cautious when you are offered money or "free" services in exchange for your Medicare card number.
